I liked the good communication field prep and atmosphere at Orville. I liked the hard work and effort shown by the Diamond Dogs organization to get in games when it did nothing but rain. Loudonville also did a nice job of managing their fields. I also like the tournaments that let the girls pick mvps.

The best tournaments we played in had the following:

fields that were relined/groomed after each game
time built in so that games were 90 minutes, with spare time in case of weather delays (no game cancellations!)
plenty of women's bathroom stalls ;D ;D
cool-looking t-shirts for tournament memories (especially like when they have the iron on "champions" decal that can be added
quality umpires with a stike zone that included both sides and corners of the plate

and last but not least, shade for the fans ;) ;)

I like the 1 hour 20 min. time limits per game and no admission fees for parents/fans. I also like when they try to get games in even if it rains rather than cancel the entire weekend on Friday. (happened twice)

>:(I have to say that we did not get one FULL tournament in this summer, sometimes not making it past Friday due to WEATHER!!! Which tournament Director did his/her best to give everyone what they came for? I would have to say Sparta & Aunt Rosie's did their best to get fields ready & games in. I know Marion does a great job with that, we did not get to go to that tournament this year, but we love that Tournament.

Most of the events we attended were pretty nice. Compuware was a nice tournament the facility was good it had a nice softball atmosphere. But the one tournament that sticks out the most was Uncle Stans in North Ridgeville. This was intersting on many levels. First the competition was so so but all this tournament was missing was some carnivle rides, sausage and peppers stand as well as cavatelli and a gyro stand....something for the directors to take into consideration for next season.

Now the one horiffic thing that sticks in my mind was the port-a-potty that stunk up the whole back end of the complex. I personally think it was WGMAN21 who dropped a horiffic DUCE!.....Maybe he couldnt resist the pulled pork sandwich or that kettle corn.....or maybe his stomach was upset because of the bad run of card he caught the night before at Mountineer?....Let your imagination run wild....either way it stunk!

Local tournaments we played in and really like: Tune-up: run great, big field of teams, 7 game early season guarantee
Fastpitch classic: Tooman does a nice job with organization, but really like the 5 game pool play, only top two teams from each pool play on sundays
Shootout: Run great, nice fields but the best part is pool play determines what bracket you play in on sunday, so if you lay an egg you still can recover on sunday against simlar talented teams.

You had to go there, didn't ya? ;)

Anyway, best tournament by far was GAPSS. Best grounds crew, no entry fee, reasonable concessions, and good competition. I still think that if we hadn't let that game, against the Wave, go we coulda won the whole thing. But, I digress. I met a lot of OFC'ers and had some good conversations. Lionsfastpitch: sorry about your loss, I wish we could've spoken longer, but you were in the middle of a game. By far, the best tourney all year.

West Liberty was excellent, nice mix of teams. Mitch and the guys up there took good care of the fields, concessions were well priced.

Gar and the guys in Plain City did an excellent job with all of the rain during the All-Star tourney. Fields were well taken care of despite the weather.

Watched my niece at Vandalia Windmill, excellent facility.

Last but not least, the guys at Tipp City for the Elizabeth Spano Memorial ran an excellent tourney. T-shirt vendor even had the equipment there to put the girls names on their tourney shirts..

Orville had a very nice tournament. Nice fields, always relined and groomed for every game.

The best part of it was when we played on the front field and they read our names when we were up to bat!

Zanesville was a very nice tournament.
Even when it did rain, the game times were still on schedule.

I love the ones that are not afraid to make difficult decisions about pool play when it rains or when they know it is going to rain.

GAPPS was an example this year for me on how a tournament should be run.

not seeing the ringer or mandan!

i did like the Wilmington one...and after all the rain delays, it was odd to play a full 1:20 during NSA nationals...anyways, i don't have anything specific, just had a good weekend with parents/players/competition
