Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but we have no idea what this means! My daughter just got voted as a first team "At large" player in her District, if someone could tell us what exactly this means we would appreciate it. She pitches and plays short so we weren't really sure if the "At large" was good or bad? Thanks in advance

Some districts award honors by positions and only allow 1 or 2 players to receive the award for that position. If they want to award a 3rd player, but her position award has already been filled, then they usually have 1 "at large" award that they can use...for example, if dd was a pitcher but district coaches already voted on 2 other pitchers to be first team, then they may award my dd the "at large" first team spot (not based on position).

good .. but it has many different meanings of "what for" when it comes to it's usage.

Congrats to her by the way.

Thank you! And thank you both for the info. We just weren't sure if it was good that she didn't get it for pitching or for shortstop. At least she made first team though so she was happy!
