What is the best peforming bat?

I was told that the only difference between the 08 and 09 RTs is the paint scheme. Anyone hear different?

They said that since it is an aluminum alloy instead of composite, it never did get "hotter." It was a good bat right out of the wrapper... any thoughts?

My DD likes a balanced bat. Maybe because bunting for a base hit is an important part of her offensive skills. I don't think there is much argument that the Rocketech has as much pop as any bat right out of the wrapper and that they hold up better than any composite bat. I have seen Catalysts, Stealths, and Synergys all break at the handle if the ball is hit there. The best bat is simply the one which feels good to the batter and she has confidence in. (Oh no ! I ended a sentence with a preposition. English teachers out there please forgive me)

The other night Al Dilz was at our house, he is the President of Sports Sensors, INC. and makes the Swing Speed Radar unit. I use this device to measure bat speed as it measures it from the sweet spot area of the bat which is different than measuring it from the end of the bat which measures bat speed faster and is mis leading in my opinion.

He wanted to see how we used it during our hitting lessons. We had a 15 year old student who bats right handed. She has had 5 lessons nowand attended the clinic.

She started with a bat speed of 62 to 64 MPH....she was using a balanced bat and after about 25 swings I mentioned to Al that we would focus on two areas and we would should see an increase of 4 to 6 MPH. The main focus was to get her to flex more on her lead foot leg for better weight distribution and a linear weight shift. The result was a 68 MPH bat speed and when she did it correctly her average stayed above 64 MPH with spikes of 65,66 and 67 MPH.

The next area of focus was on the back elbow slotting more forcefully combined with her grip of the hands being off set and not lining up the finger knuckles and keeping the index and thumb from clamping down on each other which restricts bat speed. This resulted in a 71 MPH bat speed and then her average speed was never lower than 68 MPH.

Bat performance depends on who is swinging the bat and how they swing it each time in my opinion. Time after time I have seen some kids strike out using a Rocket Tech or end loaded bat and put a balanced bat in their hands and they hit and the pop ups and strike outs go away.

Some bats have bigger sweet spots than others and if the hitters hand path is not consistent you are wasting your money on technology that your kid can not apply or make the best use of.

I agree with SBFAMILY find a person who can increase her bat speed and keep her bat in the big zone as quickly and as long as they can and what ever bat they are using will work just fine.

I'm constanting asked about bats. I hope everyone posting about bats reads this. This is what a good hitting coach can do for your kid. It's not the expensive bat. Spend the $$ on lessons. Not every hitting coach, is created equal. It took me a few years and some $$ to find this out. If you cannot afford a hitting instructor or don't know how to judge one. Go to WSU's hitting clinic. Coach B and the rest of us Lemmings are learning from the best. In my opinion!

DD got a 2008 Rocket Tech last year and it has never seemed to have quite the umpf that her 2005 had. We still have the 2005 but there is a visible small dent and the little rivets (??? don't know what to call them) at the end of the bat near the end cap are slightly visible so she doesn't use it anymore. I'm not sold on the 2008 but DD won't try anything else even though she admits it's not the same. I'd like her to try a more balanced bat to compare what she can do with that versus the RT. She's agreed to at least try some teammates bats. I've been looking at the Demarini Phenix and heard that Worth has a new bat out that's supposed to be good. Any thoughts on those? Also, has anyone had any issues with "dud" bats purchased "new and in the wrapper" off E-bay? Just wondering.......

You might try two enloaded bats that have come on the market recently, if she wants to stay with an endloaded ....both are composite and end loaded, the 1st is the Rip-it Force, it has a little lighter end load than the R/T and swings more like a balanced bat, the second is the TPS Triton, we put it thru an acid test this weekend in the nets, and will try it in game situtaions in indy next weekend, we also will get to try the Demarini Pitchblack, this will be our fist venture into a balanced bat as we see the end of the R/T era approaching, the Rip It would make a nice combination to the R/T as a cold weather bat, but as of now i have not seen anythnig that can match the pop she gets from the 05 and 06 R/T, hope this helps

Softballmom...the rivets are actually called compression pins or rolled pins.

Get a needle and clean out the dirt in the pins as they are hollow and there are four of them.

Mix up some two part epoxy glue and using the needle put some glue inside the holes and then take a center punch and gently tap the pins so it is flush or even with the bat surface and then add a little more glue and wipe off the excess and let it sit overnight and you will be good to go.

We have been fixing them this way for years with no problems. Usually if an umpire is doing a bat inspection pre game and they feel the pins sticking out will not let you use the bat that game and the above fix will extend the life of the bat.

Boulders dad is correct on the bats as the new Louisville Slugger is now offering a handle loaded bat the weighs 25 ounces and is 33 inches. Team Docs daughter swings it like a feather and pounds the ball off the tee and she is 10.5 years old. I just wanted to see how she handled the bat.

They also have a end loaded bat that is 23 ounces and 33 inches and are a three piece bat called the Triton. We have four of them we are testing now to see how the kids like them...so far very positive feed back and that includes 14 players from IWU who have used RT's.

We are back from the hospital and Idella is doing fine and resting at home.

Tim like it is often stated, "Even the sun can shine on a dogs butt if it is in the right position."

It would make no difference if Britt used a 2x4 with a bat handle on it, she will hit home runs....it is because Uncle H saved her shoulder that she will be hitting for a long time to come.

Remember it is not the destination in life that is important, it is the journey and the people you meet along the way (in your case and your brothers, Hitter23 it is termed characters you meet along the way.)

Please remember Jesus forgives however I never forget! Moses never got to the promised land however he saw it from afar...he wondered for 40 years and it has only taken you three years and I bet the kool aide tastes great especially with a little Jack...ask your brother about that!

Can anyone tell me what the value of the 2005 Rocket tech is? We know someone that has one for sale, it is a used bat and it has very little wear. It seems to be in good shape. Any info would be appreciated.

Your best bet to get the current "market value" of a used bat might be to search eBay's completed auctions.
