What is the most dangerous position on the field?

i pitch in mens fast pitch, the distance is 46 feet from plate to plate, its scary enough when your pitching to some top notch hitters, i would say pitcher is the most dangerous position

I think with the bat's as lively as they are. I think mask's should be mandatory. One death is too many. I don't care how quick you are your not fast enough if it's hit right. Two year's ago my daughter who threw high 50's as a 12u got drilled knocked her off her feet and she is built like a linebacker. It hit her in the shoulderblade thank god, she did'nt have a chance if it would've hit her in the face it might have killed her. They need to make them mandatory or do something with the bat's. Rather be safe than sorry.

When I coached my 9U team, I made all infielders wear masks though some did not comply. I wasn't about to bench them do to a preference. However, one of my pitchers took a line shot to the face. It hit with such force, that the ball ricocheted to her shoulder. It left a nasty bruise and couldn't pitch for a week. If it wasn't for that mask, well, don't want to fathom. Anyway, she pitched amonth later, and pitched with the same confidence knowing the mask protected her. I don't coach travel, but will still make my youngest wear hers for her travel team. I'm going back to rec for machine pitch for fun, and will recommend to the parents that they should invest in one.

I have two daughters that pitch and the mask is a must for them. They only have their choice of wearing it or not when they are not pitching. I recommend all third base, first base and pitchers wear them.

I have changed my mind after watching ball at sinclair. The outfielders are in big trouble if that ball takes more than one bounce. The ball has more spin and changes direction better than Forrest Gump playing ping pong.

The most dangerous position on field would have to be an umpire deciding on very close safe orout call at home plate that would decide the championship game.
