What next?

My daughter's travel ball team just disbanded. What does she do know? If one of the grandparent's is willing to back a new team (hire a coach, practice fields) what would be the way to start a team? when do teams have to sign up for tournaments? For the summer i mean.

If the grandfather can't get pull this together, my daughter is stuck. Is it to late to try out for teams?

We have been pretty sheltered and never had to think about being on other teams.

There are plenty of teams still looking for girls. What age group? Very shortly you will have lots and lots of teams wanting your DD to try-out for their team.

A word of advice. Take the time to do some reasearch on the teams that invite your DD for a try-out. Don't jump at the first offer. This might save you some headaches later down the road.

I agree with wvanalmsick. Also, there are soooo many travel teams already, there really is no need for another. There are a ton that are still looking and will be looking right up through the season, so you have plenty of time. As he said, do your research and find the team that's right for your dd. Look in the section under Teams Looking For Players. Good luck to you and your family.

Thank you very much. How will they know about my daughter? That's what I am anxious about. I will be sure to be careful though. She is 14 U

You contact teams that are looking, that you may be interested in. They will most likely arrange for a private tryout or have your dd come participate in a team practice. Make sure you listen carefully to what the coach says, don't "oversell" your dd, and most importantly DO NOT coach from the sidelines. Be quiet and observe because the coaches most certainly are "trying out" the parents as well and the player.

Look for a team that needs her position, not just a utility player. It is NOT too late, you have plenty of time.

If you post where you are located and how far you are willing to travel to be on a team, ie Cincinnati / Columbus / Cleveland area I am sure there are several "nice" people on here that will give you advice on what teams are still looking. Good Luck.

I for sure will as soon as she and my husband give the okay! thank you all! I will not worry about what that other family is trying to do - it seemed like a pretty big task.

Um, I'm guessing western Ohio...

Any teams need a 3B? She posted "My daughter is a great 3rd basemen."

She can also try posting under Ohio Players Looking for a Team (http://www.game-ex.com/vb3/forumdisplay.php?f=86).

I agree with SoCal, she can post under Ohio Players Looking for a Team, with specifics about positions, experience, how far she is willing to travel, how to contact, etc. etc. And she should still be looking under the Teams Looking for Players category.

As for the grandparet who might be willing to salvage the existing team, it's too late to get into the showcase events, but most other tournaments are still open.
