What is too long to hold on to players? What time frame is normal for teams that only have 4-5 players to hang on to them while there are many teams looking for 1 or 2 to complete a roster. Teams that have 8-9 commited. Not just verbally, but financially as well. Will these girls suffer or get left out? Why not jump to one of those teams looking for either a pitcher or catcher etc.?
Pro's - Con's??? Maybe this is related to too many teams a depleting the talent pool.

If you don't have that #1 pitcher and catcher and also looking for position starters...Now Is The Time!

unless she is their 'stud' pitcher or promised a SS position;& and I am promised an assistant position with free uniform and reduced fee. And my DD hasn't received any call back.

I coach a team that just went through this scenario. Our organization had an 11u team and two 12u teams and only had 30 kids at tryouts to spread among them. I had a core of 5 players and one was a very good pitcher. After tryouts we made 4 offers, only to find out that these girls were going to play else where, and we lost out pitcher because she wanted to stay close to home and play with her friends. Tryouts were over Saturday at 12:00 and by 6pm Sunday I called the parents of the remaining players to tell them that we were not going to field a team and that they need to get on the phone and find their kid a team. After all it is about the girls and not about me making sure I get to be a coach or get to coach my dd. I was definitely very disappointed but I feel that I did the right thing. My DD starts the tryout circuit this weekend!
