Where are the Ohio teams at the IUP/ISST?

The Indiana Summer Showcase Tournament in Indiana PA when it was affiliated with the NSA would aways have several great teams form Ohio in attendance. We switched to USSSA primarily because of declining attendance and last year we were back up to 52 teams but not a single Ohio team. This year we currently have 59 teams registered and ultimately expect 70, most form western and central PA with a few from Maryland and one from Canada; yet again not a single team from Ohio.

Is it something we did, or is it USSSA?
What did we do to drive off these Ohio teams?
What can the TD do to get you to come back?

Not sure you did anything to drive away teams. NSA suffered in Ohio after a disastrous handling of rain in its state tournament, which capped off a lot of existing discontent in Ohio. The switch to Utrip wouldn't have made the tournament more attractive, in my humble opinion. Perhaps this is a matter more of not marketing the tournament to Ohio teams rather than of driving Ohio teams away. I do not intend this meanly, but frankly this tournament has never been on my radar screen and I've been following Ohio fastpitch travel ball for a long time.

The weekend of your tournament is the weekend of the Dayton Metro qualifier and Region 9 open qualifier for ASA/USA here in Ohio. I suspect, and it is only speculation, that most Ohio teams who have a showcase schedule are also attending one of these ASA/USA qualifiers.

I tried to see which college coaches are attending your showcase, but couldn't find a list even under the "college coach" link on your site. Again, this goes to marketing.

Wishing you the best of luck; it sounds like your tournament has rebounded in PA.

In my opinion Ohio is an ASA state. N$A shot themselves in the foot here in Ohio a few years back with their state tourney fiasco...plus the fact they make you go to States to secure your WS bid. USSSA is big in NW Ohio, but just in a small area.

Unfortunately, most top teams are chasing college coaches to tourneys and not the college coaches chasing teams and players.

From CGS post above....

CGS pretty much substantiated my claim.
