Ok, I'm cold, and bored and it snowing. We've been to a few Ohio tournaments, I was just wondering who has the nicest fields to play on and who runs the nicest tournaments?
Stingrays runs a great tournament and the infields are always in great shape but the lack of outfield fences keep it from being number one in my book. In the top 5 would be fair.
Pickerington Central & North for the Classics tournies (Fall & ASA Eastern Qualier). 4 softball fields per complex w/fences on all. Net above seating sections at Central and plenty of Parking and room to practice. North could use more parking, but still plenty of space to warm-up.
Steam...
CYO fields do not have the water park it is Rolf that has the water park. Either way they have a bunch of nice fields within a few miles of each other.
I tend to agree with the Field of Dreams in Boardman. The parking is a bit of an issue, but the fields are immaculate and the outfield's are meticulously groomed with regulation girls fastpitch fences.
Colombus Indiana has a great venue with excellent drainage and the flattest manicured fields.
Have to challenge "Gladimdone" on the worst fields, as Tealtown proved they are WORST HANDS DOWN from last years NSA State mess. Poor Drainage, Little to no machinery nor diamond dust or anything else to manipulate fields. BE WARNED! So lots of Coaches and dads with racks trying to make something happen. IT WAS SAD.
Nice fields alone are not enough, the Summer Rebellion Tournament held at the RVBFY Complex in Marion has nice diamonds and I cant wait for the trees to grow. The RV family does one of the nicest jobs hosting a tournament and tries to meet everyones wants and needs! Rainouts dont happen at this complex! If you dont know about last year, just ask around. They played the entire tournament after at least 4" of rain on Friday night and more on Saturday! Their theory is its all about the kids! www.rvbfy.org
