I would have to say that my DD's coaches are pretty close to being the same.;&

Definitely the travel coach, but the hitting coach is even better.

I think my DD has picked up something from every coach she has had. All the way back to her 2nd grade slow pitch team. I can't think of a single coach that hasnt made some sort of impact on her. So I say thanks to them all!

I cannot speak to the high school level, but at the junior high level, the travel coaching is better. The coaches actually have more experience and give much better instruction.

Acutally can anyone help with the rules about your dd and the "No Contact Rule", between school ball and travel ball? I understand playing in games, but I can not understand why she can't practice over the winter with her travel team... this is 12u ball...How loose is the term "Open Gym"?

Not being able to practice over the winter with her travel team must be a coach rule its not a OHSAA rule. And unless her grade school is OHSAA sanctioned, the playing with travel team at anytime is another coaches rule lol.

In High School once pitchers and catchers report most travel coaches end practice until after the high school season ends. Ironically with all the High School and travel bickering, travel coaches generally respect the High school season.

Here is the offical calender for 2009:

2009 OHSAA Softball Calendar

Feb. 23 First Day of Coaching Pitchers and Catchers Only
Mar. 9 First Day of Coaching
Mar. 30 Season Begins
April 20 Non-Interscholastic Competition No Longer Permitted

May 9 - May 16 Sectional Tournament
May 18 - May 23 District Tournament
May 27 - May 30 Regional Tournament
June 4 - June 6 State Tournament
June 13 Season Ends
Aug. 10 - Sept. 7 Coaches' No Contact Period
