With the season quickly approaching, who are some the players to look for? Team, position, name(if known). Lets hear them from the little pups all the way to the big dogs....
Ohio Hawks have a 14 or 15 year old that throws hard around or at 60. The Outlaws have a 14 yr old and a 16 year old that throw in the mid 60's also. Lasers 14u team (I think gray) have two good pitchers also.
I'm just putting this out there, but if a U10 girl is throwing 59-62 from 35 feet, and throwing strikes, I would imagine a lot of 9 pitch innings. She could play U14 and still dominate at that speed (maybe wouldn't enjoy it socially though).

Cheyanne (Outlaws) has come a long way through persistance, hard work and dedication. I've seen her quite a bit over the past 3 years during games and workouts. Saw her pitch a couple HS games this season. She definitely can make a roar at the D-4 level. They (Mathews) have a good team and should make it to and through Districts. She throws hard, but I don't believe I've seen a pitch over 60 in four games. Most seem to be in the 55-57 range on top end. Her control has been her biggest area of improvement and addition of change up and breaking ball makes her tough to face. The first game I saw her this season, mechanics were off, momentum was not down the powerline. The last game, loss to Bristol in 9 innings (3-2), she pitched very good and had great control and solid velocity. Believe she focused upon mechanics with coach as her drag foot and momentum improved with velocity, maybe closer to 60. I was impressed! If she continues to work as hard as she has since her 10U season, she's going to be one of the best in the state by graduation in 3 years. I'd like to see her throw her other pitches in 3-2 counts and more often throughout game, difference between pitching and throwing...
I can't tell you how many NFCA, Diamond 9, Triple Crown and College Camps that I have attended with players from my team and watched as the college coaches gunned pitchers. At the 16u and 18u age group there are very few kids that get much over 60mph. I remember sitting at picktwn last year for the Stingray Tournament and there were 4 college coaches there gunning a kid that they were told throws in the mid 60's +. After several innings she never broke 60. You should have seen the looks they gave after every pitch.
This is just a suggestion. Everyone keeps mentioning requirements for kids sports. I have one I would like to see put in place. When the day comes you as a parent and your dd decide that pitching is what she wants to do, At that very moment you as the parent have to be seen by your family doctor and given mandatory medication to stop these hallucinations. You are required under the supervision by law to take your meds. Anyone found not taking said meds and posting that 10u,s are hitting 60 mph and found that said pitcher cant do it will be taken and deposited on the island of the insane. Mainly inhabited by 10 to 14 u pitchers dads. Just a suggestion.
Oh by the way I forgot to mention be on the look out for one of my hitting students this summer shes a 10u and can hit the ball 300 foot and has a bat speed in excess of 79 mph.
