Cheyanne (Outlaws) has come a long way through persistance, hard work and dedication. I've seen her quite a bit over the past 3 years during games and workouts. Saw her pitch a couple HS games this season. She definitely can make a roar at the D-4 level. They (Mathews) have a good team and should make it to and through Districts. She throws hard, but I don't believe I've seen a pitch over 60 in four games. Most seem to be in the 55-57 range on top end. Her control has been her biggest area of improvement and addition of change up and breaking ball makes her tough to face. The first game I saw her this season, mechanics were off, momentum was not down the powerline. The last game, loss to Bristol in 9 innings (3-2), she pitched very good and had great control and solid velocity. Believe she focused upon mechanics with coach as her drag foot and momentum improved with velocity, maybe closer to 60. I was impressed! If she continues to work as hard as she has since her 10U season, she's going to be one of the best in the state by graduation in 3 years. I'd like to see her throw her other pitches in 3-2 counts and more often throughout game, difference between pitching and throwing...
