Why did you choose your current team?

This is a typical winter doldrum poll. You can choose as many as you wish.

A lot of people are choosing "the coaching is better"...question to fuel the debate.. how did you know the coaching was better? Come on... give a few comments.

We chose our current team because the coach is a strong instructor. DD has lots of potential, but is still a little green.

It's was easy to see at the tryout. The things they talked about with me. Their vision of the future etc.. These guys know what they are doing.

I watched these coaches the season prior to committing to the team. I liked they way they coached, the drills they did with the team, and their knowledge of the game. I also liked the fact that they realized you coach girls differently than boys. I have never been one to care for the "screaming and yelling" method of coaching. We made a great choice... the team is very successful and my dd has never been happier. :)

I'll third that! Does that mean we have a quorum?

Why did you have to go and confuse me with a big word like quorum? Now I have to go look it up.

We picked our daughter's team primarily because of the coaches. ?They are willing to take the time to develop girls and don't expect that every girl on the team to have already had all the coaching they need to compete at 14u. ?They are constantly coaching and have been since the 10u level. ?Their coaching has helped produce a team with talented girls and happy parents. ?It's so nice to be on a team without all the dramatics and without the general lack of coaching our daughter had with other teams.

I was going to pick good looking coaches and then I looked at our fall harvest team picture ?;D ?and had to go with coaching and been with the org and best available. One reason I picked coaching and intially it was his reputation but it has proven out and my dd finds the chalk talk sessions invaluable.

You know the coaching is better when.....you go to try out and the coaches are talking to your daughter like she has been on the team for years. They corrected and worked with her from the first minute of her tryout. Plus there is always that gut feeling....

A word of advice trust that feeling! I did and I couldn't have made a better choice! We have a full staff of awesome coaches! Even the 14U coaches come out to games and practices and help with advice and such for a our 12's and 11's. That is dedication. They have given my dd new found confidence that she didn't get last year (not that the coaching was bad it just wasn't what is best for my dd).

We chose the team based on that "gut feeling". They ran the best tryout over some of the best teams. The coaches all treated each girl as if they had known them for years. It was obvious that the coaches from each age group really wanted to be there and truly cared about the girls. We were so impressed that we took another friend back the next day to tyout for the older age. Our dd loves her team and knows in her heart she made the right decision. Great coaching. Great Parents. No drama.
Go Cincy Magic!!

My dd picked her team because of the coaches & the girls on the the team. At the tryout, they welcomed her & made her feel like she was already one of them. There are a ton of teams much closer, but to see that spark back in her eyes again when she's with these girls playing ball makes it worth all the gas & drive time. They have reignited her passion for this sport & that is priceless!! We are so confident in the Lady Liberty that we suggested them to some of her younger friends that were looking for a team.

As for my dd we were looking for a step up. She has played traveling ball locally for the past couple of years and liked it but did not enjoy it. The problem was 2 fold. Coaches who only worried about their daughters and worried about building up their future high school team and the level of play. This first one is pretty self explanatory. The second allow me to speak on. I have coached (like many of you) for many years. I have taught my dd the small things in softball like reading the swing, watch if they adjust in the box each time up, backing up pitcher when pitcher is covering home on a pass ball, creeping on the pitch. These are things I don't see alot of girls doing. On one occasion my dd was playing 2nd base. she had many times try to help the new first baseman understand about backing up the pitcher on a pass ball. The first baseman kept ignoring her. In a game a girl scored from first because the first baseman would not back up the play at home during a pass ball. This would frustrate my dd. My dd still has many things to learn about the game but has heads up on most because of the little things. So this year we were looking for a team with good coaching, understanding of other sports during winter practices and girls that love and know the game of softball. I believe we found that this year. Only time will tell. Now mydd does not like the hour travel to practice Thus the name TRAVEL BALL.

With that being said I want to wish all a good summer with your teams and see you on the field

If there are any Buckeye Heat moms on here on my teams, they had better pick Good Looking Coach. I don't care about any of the other stuff.
