Why have a team website if you are not going to keep it updated. Little pet peeve of mine. We our blessed to have found one of our coaches who does a great job. Thanks Bill

Teams this is a great way to promote your team and organization but a out of date site can also have the opposite effect.

Our web site has been great for us. We get quite a few players and families come into the organization due to our web site information. We also use it for our coaches - we have a portal that they can access to view training videos from our clinics with Carrier, Kobata, Hartwig, Dagenais and Hillhouse. There are about 20 videos online that we have purchased or recorded at our clinics for them to view as streaming video.

Coach Jay has also written a stats site http://www.ohiohawks.com/stats - we had our coaches and scorekeepers in for training last week and after each tourney they will go online and enter the games .. our coaches and parents will be able to get online at any time and review their teams and DD's stats.

We plan on linking it to our player profile pages along with player video, details and of course their stats. A player can email a college the link and password to allow the coach to view their profile page online, complete with all their information and video. Lastly, we are rolling out an RVP station at the HIT Center where the coaches can record a players swing, analyze/annotate it and email or put online for their players. We plan on giving each girl a thumb drive on a lanyard to be able to copy their swing video to and take home...

It has been a lot of work to establish but it offers a service that we feel our players need to be recruited.

As long as the stats are NOT available to opposing coaches... I like that idea. I have heard talk about how other teams look at other teams website to check out the stats before going onto the field of battle...LOL....

YEA!! Coach Derek had a cow until he realized it was locked behind a login... LOL...

We had some interesting discussions about that... as well... teams don't scout very well in TB, at least at the younger ages ... they just remember what player killed them... we talked about adding a web page where our coaches can go and enter a player they played against that impressed them (or hurt them) and enter all the scouting info they have on that player... How they pitched to them, their strengths, and weaknesses.

We hope to build a database on the players we face throughout the year that other coaches in the Hawks org can go to and research and prepare... that will come in very handy at tryouts as well... it is all about information to quote Bill Lilley!

Probably do the same on Umpires!! LOL - Just kidding Tim...

We won't go that far yet. We'll post the amt of runs scored and allowed, and our schedules. The some of the girls have what they like, along with their favorite songs. We restrict that part though. Ours is continually updated. It is one of our many commuincation tools.

I don't know if we will put stats on ours yet. We only have 3 teams right now, 10, 12, and 14. But our 14U team will be moving up to 16U next year.

We have just started a new format with our site. Our goal is to keep it information based and to have all softball related links available. Our site will grow with our organization in time. Our 14u area is almost complete. PLEASE CHECK IT OUT and PM me with your thoughts.

Suggestion:

Place your mailing address and/or team's hometown on the home page or on a contact us page.

When I was researching teams for my daughter in the past, I often had difficulty in figuring out where a team was located.

I agree. I was the NJ Intensity's website, front page hadn't been updated since 2006 and most of the links are dead. Could be a nice site.

We keep ours updated.

Doug, you need to hot button your teams to go to individual pages with each coaches information. Helps when trying to contact a certain coach instead of an administrator.
