can anyone make a recommendation on one? the sandlot machine looks intriquing, especially sitting it on the ground and letting it pitch upwards. thanks in advance.

I would definitely recomend the Grand slam Pitching machine, we have used several different ones, but this one is consistent, and you can change the speeds by changing the amount of air flow to the balls pitched. Also, you can use the typical wiffle golf balls or the hollow ones.

We use ours at every practice. The girls got frustrated the first time or two they use ours, but now they love it, and I can honestly say we have hit the ball a lot more consistently this year than last.

The long tube, helps a ton with consistency and staying with in the strike zone.

I made one using a Cheap vacuum, a shop vac type I bought at home depot for 20 bucks, I got some PVC fittings so I could feed the balls, It looked quite a bit like that grandslam machine. I am teased about it all the time by my wife and DD lol, but it worked. So if you want a machine and are on a budget or your just a hillbilly try that :D

I have a Personal Pitcher from SPC I like it it has different speeds and throws curves, ground balls and fly balls here is the site http://www.personalpitcher.com/ you can also rent it anything goes wrong with renting it they can fix right away. They also have these web gloves to help on you catching for younger players and advanced players.

We also have the personal pitcher and my opinion its junk, it hardly comes out of the box. Yet the grand slam we use every practice. Trust me from experience.

The personal pitcher serves it's purpose indoors but the green light on their makes it hard to pick up the ball.
