I too will not attend this tournament in the future. Due to some very bad umpiring that was totally incorrect when our shortstop was run over trying to field a ball and was call for obstruction because it delayed the runner from getting quickly to 3rd base. Would not call interference on the runner, because our runner got in her way to third. If I understand the rules, it it the runner who has the responsibility to goet out of the of the fielder making the play.

However, beyond that, it still amazes me that in ASA National qualifying tournaments, how the directors can determine and change the ASA rules. This is the second such tournament where ASA Rules were thrown out the window, such as metal cleats being allowed, and pitching distance for 18U was 40 feet not the 43 feet that ASA says it is. Those were were definately not in the ASA Rule book. I hope the ASA commissioners will do something to stop this and in fact never let those organization hold another qualifier if they do not go by the ASA Rules.

Why even call it an ASA tournament, if you do not follow ASA rules and standards. Just don't understand the ASA organization allows this.

As of now, I know two tournaments that I would never attend again. Willoughby and Maple Lakes.
