What kind of practice schedule should one on a traveling team be on during Winter?

Team Practice? ?
Pitching Practice?

If teams are practicing, how involved should these practices be? ?Just making sure dd is on track.

I can only speak for what the Wrath is doing. We gave everyone but our pitchers and catchers December off. (That was what the pitchers and catchers wanted) They practice once a week in the bullpen. Then they will join the rest of their team with a hitting coach and tee work in January once a week along with their bullpen work. This schedule will increase until their schools take them.
Clinics will also become part of the ritual.

Luv,

It depends on what level your DD wants to be at. ?Does she want to compete at the highest level and hopefully challenge for a scholarship in college? ?Is she playing on a team that meets those goals? ?Perhaps your DD is competitive but is looking at academics only after softball so playing at a very high level is not as important to her right now. ?It also depends on her age. ?Practice schedules at 10u are different than say 16u. ?Schedules will vary by team also. ?

If your dd is a pitcher, I highly recommend working out with her pitching coach at least once a month (more if possible). ?If she's very committed to softball and wants to go to the next level, whether that be H.S or college ball, get a hitting instructor and work with them. ?Go to camps, clinics, etc. ?The player has to be commited to improving her skills on her own, just as much as your DD's travel coach has to be committed to improving the team's skills and your DD's skills. ?

Practices should be getting more intense as teams are starting to participate in indoor tournaments and the season will be here before you know it. ?Some teams will go hard and heavy at this time of the year, others will not. ?You have to remember that most travel teams have girls from different locations and it can sometimes be difficult to get those girls together in one location as frequently as you or your DD might like, hence why you soak up all the knowledge you can from practice and work on your own. ?Ask the coach what your DD can do to get better/stronger and then go work on it. ?Sorry I know I got off subject there for a second.

Anyway I hope this helps you out! ?Happy Holidays!

Marie
