If this was suppose to be the Best of the Best Tournament why would you NOT want to go against the best unless you were straight out afraid! If scores do not matter why not face one of the BEST hitters in Ohio?! If not they best. Makes no sense to side step her if the pitcher was throwing such a lights out game. Especially with no one on. Like it has been said, maybe she would have set her down. Now no one will ever know. What a shame.

As I said, reasonable people can agree to disagree on this. I think you and Tim come down with a reasonable conclusion that, while I appreciate the concern that you expressed for our pitcher's lost opportunity, I believe is also influenced by the fact that it was your player that we pitched around. Doesn't make your position unreasonable. Our reasonable conclusion was influenced by the fact that our team needed a win to improve morale. Doesn't make our position unreasonable.

Coop pitched a fantastic games on Saturday. I as a guest parent watched the game from the backstop. I didn't know who the batter was and I observed pitches outside of the plate and wondered why Coop didn't pitch any balls inside. I would of never guessed she was INTENTIONALLY walking the hitter until 1st base coach acted out of sorts after her last at bat. I don't understand how you can fault any pitcher who threw a shutout. From my perspective Coop was trying to nibble at the outside corner.
Ask a college coach if they want their pitcher to challenge the best hitter with 1-0 lead or 0-0 tied game? Just as batter wants to show her talents to a college coach, Pitcher wants to show her smarts and she can carry out a game plan when scouting report is given. I applaud Coop and Heats coach for carrying out the game plan. Carol job is to showcase her team and no one else.

I have deleted reference to the battery being involved in the decision to pitch around Britt, as we influenced that decision by telling the battery that it needed to come up with a strategy for jamming her or pitching around her and we influenced their decision. I meant by my initial comment to praise the battery for having good game sense, but it was not interpreted that way by some, so we will take full responsibility for the pitching around. The pitcher was not afraid of pitching to Britt, the coaches were, although we would have to be deaf dumb and blind not to be afraid of one of the best hitters in Ohio.

If youll read my posts, no where did I slight the pitcher,,,,, she pitched a great game, I also never asked or implied that carol should showcase any other player....... .
My comment was and Is if you are there as a pitcher to showcase your skills, what better chance than to try it against a good batter....... 12 straight balls, and 2 outs and you couldent tell it was intentional?...... The coach did what she had to do to in a game, at her kids age her thought process was it was better to get a win for her teams moral, and I dont fault her how she handled it.

Again my thought process is at our age if im trying to show a potential coach how good I am, why shy away from a challenge........ Thats like telling my batter to swing at a lousy pitch just to show off how good her hitting form is.
Or telling my batter that if she strikes out against a stud pitcher its ok the college coach watching understands.......... trust me they may understand but they are not impressed and that is the entire reason we take our kids to these type of events is to possibly impress and attract college coaches, if you are a 16 or a first year 18. It was the pitchers decision to walk her not the coaches I dont fault either one. does it aggervate me to some point. sure it does, wouldent it you if your best hitter was taken out of a game? Believe it or not I love the success of any good player be it pitcher, hitter , fielder and am not bashful about tellling a player nice job on the opposing team if they make a great play. Ask yourself this, what will that young lady years down the road wish she had done, take a crack at a good hitter in front of a college coach and maybe have been successful?....... or take the road she did and play it safe........ as well as she pitched im thinking it will be the first.......

What i find disapointing in all this is the fact the pitcher pitched a fantastic game, she would have gotten more out of facing a elite hitter than dodging the challenge, and to this end i think she was done a disservice.

and usually when a pitcher is pitching a fantastic game, she wins the battle....pitch to her. :)

Sometimes you need to show them you are a smart player also. It could not hurt the batter since she has already verballed. If the pitcher had also verballed she should go after her without a doubt. Being able to pitch around someone is an important part of the game. I have seen pitchers try to intentionally walk someone and throw it down the middle, that is not too impressive for a college coach. You have to respect the decision they made for their team and their pitcher.

It was our pleasure hosting the showcase! I hope the scores and the reverting back thing is really not a BIG problem....

I'm really glad you all had a great weekend! Colleges showed up! Girls were seen! People had fun... I really hope we are all doing this for the right reasons.... It is for the girls and getting them exposure to college coaches. Trust me, I'm the first to admit that I expect my team to go out and compete to win every single game we play....BUT I also expect them to win no matter who plays or what position they are in! It is about competing and in the end the score really does not matter as long as the girls get seen! I could accept losing every game we play this summer if every girl on my team ends up with the chance to play at the next level.... To ME that is what this tournament / showcase is all about....

Just another opinion... Hope to see you all again this summer!!!

Thanks from the entire Wolfpack Organization!!!

We will get the scores of the games posted for those of you that want to see the scores that were submitted to us!

Hey Jamie

Congrats on a great event. I wish we could have had your weather last weekend for our event but you can't do anything about weather.

But I am happy that your showcase went off without a hitch. You have a great reputation up there, and we appreciate the support you have given us at Signature Showcases. It is all about bringing opportunities to the girls...you are definitely right about that. Keep up the good work!!

TEAM RECORDS ( again... at the "Drop Dead" point of the
games played ): We know that "Drop Dead" scores are not
indicative of WINS & LOSSES in a small number of the games
played. I am posting this just to help people get a rough idea
as to how the 32 teams fared.

I hope everyone enjoyed our tournament this year. We had some
great games between some really good teams. We had a number
of college coaches attend. AND... the weather was absolutey GREAT!
(I wish we could take credit for that, too!)
