Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team "Warriors" playing this weekend in Akron

This weekend May1-3 we are looking to do it again for the Red White and Blue in our 2nd and last charity team tournament to raise money and awarness for W.W.A.S.T Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team "Life Without a Limb is Limitless!".

We play this weekend in Akron at the Fury Fastpitch early bird NSA qualifier.

Tonight we play Fury Navy at 6:00 at:

All we can say is “wow”. What a great two weekends of softball. Great kids, great games, great weather.

The girls won another one last night at Firestone Stadium, home of the Akron Racers professional team, in a battle 2-1 vs Lasers White! It was fitting to do it at that stadium, with the announcers calling out the players’ names, big scoreboard, cool stadium seating for the families. What a cool venue for our young ladies to experience and then to have such a great game against the Lasers. Good stuff.

After going 7-1 this weekend, the Warriors ended up 13-1-1 over the 2 tourneys, Scoring 141 runs giving up 29 runs, with 27 rostered and 25 playing between the 2 weekends. Beating two very good teams in the Emeralds and Lasers for the “2” tournament championships and an NSA bid, lol. Every single player did something memorable and hopefully made new friends and learned something about the game and themselves.

We cannot thank everyone enough that helped this come together, my wife for putting up with me as we tried to organize it all, Coach Adam Acord for assisting me for a change, Brandi Acord, Don Christley, John Coughlin, Renee Hughes and all the parents who took some amazing pictures that basically broke Facebook, Coach Roc, all the families, Jeff Steiner and Dan Petersen for sponsoring the team in their tourneys, too many to list, great job everyone and all your support of these young ladies. Most importantly for the ladies that put it all out there on the field and in the dugout, unselfishly playing where needed, cheering, warming up pitchers, and just staying focused and positive through it all, we all should be very proud of every one of them.

Special thanks to all the coaches, organizations and teams that allowed their players to join us and for building some quality softball players.

One very cool side note. The Owner of Firestone Stadium and the Akron Racers, Joey Arrietta, has officially invited all the girls to come to Firestone Stadium on June 20th to meet the W.W.A.S.T guys. Try and make plans to be there in uniform, we will get more details as soon as possible. I will bring them a check for whatever we ended up raising by that day.

They will be playing in a double header that day:

On Saturday, June 20th 2015 The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team will be in Akron, Ohio to play a double header. The first game will be against The Akron Fire Fighters and the second game will be against The Akron Racers. The first game starts at 5:00 PM. Admission is $10 and covers both games. Kids under 8 get in free.
