*** We will use this post to keep a running update on how the team does this year. ***

We are looking to do it again for 2016. We need 14u players who are available during High School Season Mar-May to play on our Lady Warriors.

Cost will be 150.00 donation per player (please don't let the cost stop you, PM me and I am sure we can work it out so your player can participate)
-1-2 Uniform jersey top's utilizing the actual game uniforms worn by the W.W.A.S.T. players. (If you have a white one from last year, then you will get a red one to match, if you are new you will get 2, extra money will be needed to fund tournaments or donated to W.W.A.S.T. 501c charity)
-20% of Uniform or spirit wear purchases go to the W.W.A.S.T. team 501c charity
-extra money will go to tournament costs and to W.W.A.S.T. 501c charity
-hoping to do 4-5 tournaments if I can get enough interest from players(donations) and tournament directors.
-each player will play in 2-3-? tournaments depending on amount of players and total tournaments played, but all will be welcome at every tournament. Some girls played in all 4 last season and some played in 1 or 2.

Send payments to Paypal to tom.vankirk@mascocabinetry.com or mail to:
Tom VanKirk
10539 South St.
Garrettsville, Ohio 44231

If you just want a Jersey, costs are 50.00 per Jersey top(20% gets donated to WWAST), send size, colors, name and number on back. If you have not seen them, they are very nice and high quality jersey?s.

Don't hesitate to have your travel coaches call me and discuss the process. I spoke to several last year and they were all very supportive.

I'll have more details as volunteers come in and will be a first come first serve if we fill up, last year?s players will get first chance where possible.

**Copied all players I had emails for. I know many of you are in High school ball, please forward to any players you know that are available who may be interested, same for coaches and organizations.**

***Tournament directors, looking for sponsors or partial sponsorship's for tournaments for the team to play. We will gladly volunteer at one of your tournaments to help out.***

From last year?s 2015 Warriors efforts:

Thanks again everyone who participated, donated, or played on our Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team benefit team, the Lady Warriors 14u. So proud of every young lady that participated this year for such a good cause. We had 34 girls donate or play in 2015!

Total record of 22-5-1, "2" Championships, "1" runners-up, "1" 3rd place at 16-18u, with 249 runs scored and allowed 75 against. Good stuff right there!

This is what the game is supposed to be about. If you don't see and feel this every time your kid plays, you might be on the wrong team. Great positive development, very competitive, but very much a team atmosphere and each and every player supports each other and wants them to do well. Pure love of the game and spirit of competition. Best softball experience we have had, can't wait to do it again next year. Great job everyone!!

Question: If a player is on a school sanctioned team can they still participate?

Question: If a player is on a school sanctioned team can they still participate?

Best to check with your school coach and OHSAA rules, but 9-12 grade players in Ohio cannot play on another roster. I do not know how that would affect 7-8 graders on a school team, I'd assume the same would apply. There may be exemptions for charity team play, but better be safe than sorry and verify before chancing it.
Maybe others on OFC with experience, can help?

We have had a very enthusiastic flood of support for the team!

We have nearly 20 Lady Warriors paid committed or verbally. May have to cap it off at 20 in order to get all players quality time across the tournaments scheduled. Unless I can get sponsors for March-April, I'll have to cap it off.

Anyone know of tournament directors looking to sponsor or fill out a tourney, please let me know, hate to turn players away. Last year we were able to roster 34 players without turning any away.

Thank you Danny Peterson, Jeff Steiner, and Warren Wolff for your support so far.

If you have not sent in your donation and information, please do so asap. I will be ordering uniforms next week.

Thank you for your support!

Thank you Brent from Ohio Lightning, the Lady Warriors will be at your tourney: 5th Annual Lightning Invitational May 20 - 22, 2016!

Also, thank you to Rob Latess for hooking us up with ASA WPA and ASA for sponsoring the team in a tournament also.

We are still looking for sponsors to play any available tournaments late Feb, March and early April. We have 23 players signed up, the more games the better. Also interested in any scrimmages. We are up for any teams 14u-18u.

Thank you everyone for your support so far!

Thank you John Kovalik from G-Plex for donating 650.00 cash to WWAST and sponsoring us to play this weekend(325.00)!

Umpire Dave Orms for donating the majority of his umpire fees to the charity. Umpiring is hard and sometimes thankless work and Dave worked alot of games this weekend. Thanks Dave!

Shout out to Thunder Elite 04 for stepping up and filling in when we had teams drop. That is one scrappy 04 team! Very well coached and talented bunch. Played way up against some very good teams and held their own very well. Everyone was very impressed. Your gonna have a great season at your age group!

Valley extreme Fife gave us all we can handle, tieing and then shutting us out first 2 games, getting 2 HR's off of us including a game winning grand slam. That's a very good group with some great coaches and parents. They fought through several injuries and kept fighting all weekend.

Good stuff everyone! Thanks for all your support this weekend and some very competitive softball!

Thank you Team Pa and Andy Soltes for a very competitive weekend!

Team Pa teams came ready to play and we were impressed with all 3 Team Pa teams that we played. First class coaches and players also.

Special thank you to Pittsburgh Passion 12u Burns for donating a portion of their teams jewelry fund raiser sales to W.W.A.S.T.! Very much appreciated.
