Pitching and Pitchers Discussion Younger Pitchers

My daughter and I have been doing pitching lessons in Cincy area, we both laugh and speak of 10 and 11 year olds that can hit black with ease and throw all of the movement pitches, both of us watch them absorb the technioques and shake our heads in amazement. I have spoken to the parents after lessons and talk of not to long ago it was a race to throw 60 mph and very few movement pitches, but now a 10 shouldn't have the mental ability to throw these pitches as I'm pointing out the 2 that just got done are in the kids maze/slide sticking their fingers in each others ears while giggling.

Have others noticed the youth pitchers evolving?

I think hitter23 maybe was a bit taken aback by your penultimate sentence, as I was too. Maybe you were trying to say that if 10y/o kids can paint the corners with ease, then it's not so much mental maturity, but just good instruction?...??? Or maybe just a new generation of youth pitchers getting instruction early so that they can throw junk before speed? All I know is that when my DD was 10, she didn't even know how to throw the ball overhand. But to answer your question, no. I don't think I've ever watched a 10u softball game, actually.

As you may know I'm a pitching instructor and I see everything from the 8-10 yr. olds that have an attention span of about 20 minutes to the prodigy that can execute with ease. They're all different except in the giggle dept. lol. I blame their instructor......

I'll bite on this. I've heard but can't quote, that girls start pitching in CA at 8U. So for them to start doing that by 11U, who knows. But then again, this is Ohio.

Could it be maybe, just maybe with some of the teams now going out side the state things are starting earlier?

I don't understand the point of the original post ... and I don't think a few others did either ... can you perhaps say another way?

I think the intent of the OP was to compare pitchers from a few years ago to now. A few years ago at 10U, the idea was throw for strikes and throw hard. Then at 12U, try and place it better. But because the evolution of the sport, 10U throwing for strikes is no longer "acceptable." Pitchers now are starting earlier and attempting to the pitch to locations while learning to spin the ball.

spinning is occurring sooner and sooner... natural evolution. Maybe your right as to the OP's original post and intention.

Learn to throw it hard early - then once the proper form, technique and mental approach is learned (whateven age that is) start mixing in spins. Then learn to throw harder....lol

Totally agree flarays. Movement and change of speed is great but I have observed that the true "shut down "pitchers have that and speed. Good hitters will adjust by the second time around If the pitcher isn't throwing more than 55-58. Gotta learn speed early.

what he was trying to say was that as the riseball is being taught at the earlier ages there is problem with the 12 inch ball and the rubber gripped bats connecting in the hit zone down after wrist roll while they round first base . right ?

My 10 year old spun it left, right, high and low. No big deal, she spun it so well her catcher couldn't catch it so she stopped pitching at age 12...

This post makes no sense. It makes as much sense as the instructors in the tri state area. Opps did i say that..and BTW to the lady that gave me all the names of these instructors that teach the Elite level/ FF/IR method. Guess what I contacted them all and none of them teach anything close to it! They said they do but they dont! Sorry its true! Keep drinking the Hello elbow/push the ball kool aid!
You are a funny guy. I don't think you actually know what I/R is...lol. I hope you come across one of the many fantastic Ohio pitchers who pull the ball around the circle, allow their arm to naturally rotate, and spin the heck out of the ball, finishing "free". There are many of them, assuming you actually knew what you were looking at...lol. I am done feeding the troll now.

Yea ok...obviously you don't know because all those names you gave me are clueless. The ones north of central ohio I didnt contact. Cleveland etc. I know I just got a catcher and sorry I'm not a troll. The people you say teach it...they do not. Any time you wanna test my knowledge of what ir is bring it on. I proved to myself I'm better off doing it myself I will be setting up my own instruction facility soon to teach the truth. Book it. And stop calling people names because they don't agree with you. You are the troll. All I said is I checked out some of the names you listed and most plain said no I don't teach that. One guy in Indiana said he taught it....some old guy from dayton one hour south of me said he threw 90 mph behind his back and talked about wrist snap drills.lmao....I also went to two other well know instructors in central ohio and they were clueless... One said yes they taught it...I show up and what a joke it was...sat on her fat butt in a chair for an hour with flip flops and sweat pants....don't tell me I'm funny. ONCE AGAIN IF YOU KNOW AN INSTRUCTOR THAT TEACHES IT ...TELL ME WHO...YOUR LAST BATCH WAS A JOKE. If I'm wrong I'll post here and say...yes this person teaches ir and I was wrong...*** do I need to lie.

Seems you are getting defensive just as u did on my last post...I'm not saying ohio pitchers **** or all of ohio isn't any good etc...I'm saying there is a shortage of good instructors and that is very true. Don't take it personal and call names like a child. So what's your problem with that. I'm not arguing with you .I know I'm right

Well, considering the entire list I gave you (Hillhouse, Leffew, Howard, Beavers) are all north of Central Ohio, I am wondering how you can say they are a joke, since you said you didn't contact them... :lmao:

I am out of this thread. It is too easy.

Yup....Duncan doesn't teach it either... I have his email jenny if you would like me to forward it to you . lmk jenny

Hill house is n ohio...that's a good one. Alliance ohio once a year or so.

That's funny that Hillhouse isn't in Ohio. My DD just saw him last weekend in Southwest Ohio along with about 14 other girls for one one one lessons. You talk to Bill much?
