Ohio Ice (Richards) and the Ohio Slammers played another awesome game last night with the Slammers coming out ahead in the end 4-1. This game seemed to be an extension of the game they played in the Spano in February. Good luck to both teams for the rest of the tournament. Competition should be tough

Would love to see these two play towards the end of the year. As everyone could remember, Richards Ice team struggled the first few tournaments last year but after that, I dont think they could be beat. Taking nothing away from the slammers but would be a good game to watch. ;D

Good luck to both teams on a very succesful year.

Congrats to Phantoms, and 14u Ice battling hard, playing up.

Anyone have the weekend's games/scores for the 2 14u teams playing up? That would be 14u Ice-Richards & Ohio Slammers. Just curious, to see how they each fared overall, and game to game, now that teams are fully loaded with the HS kids. Thanks.

Thank you for the kind words. ?The coaches and families are very proud. ?With only two practices has Ohio Ice, the ladies did great. ?We look forward to playing good competition and hopefully many continued successes. ?We made a few mistakes in the championship game and we will fix those. ?Congratulations to the Phantoms.

Too many errors and unearned runs on Sunday, but over all a good showing considering we were without our #1 pitcher.

Slammers tie for 3rd Place

Very proud of the Slammers for a gutsy run Sunday to battle to a 3rd place finish being down to one proven pitcher for the day. ?Brittany Flanigan carried the load pitching 5 games in 2 days before the heat got to her and she was shut down. ?12 year old Hannah Luke stepped-up in her 1st relief/pitching appearance and held on for two innings to get the save vs. the Phoenix. ?Hannah also got the 1st start of her young career vs. the eventual champion Phantoms and did an admiral job against a very solid lineup.

Slammers are 43-3 heading into a tune-up this Wednesday vs. Indy Thunder (3 PM at Firestone Park prior to the Akron Racers game) and then it's off to Ok. City for the ASA Hall of Fame Tournament (14U NQ).

Go Slammers! ?Good luck out west!

the slammers pticher no. 10 looked pretty awesome friday night beating ice-richards 4-1 before a HUGE crowd (300-400) in massillon -- i drove an hour down from cleve just to see it and couldn't get a seat, but it was worth the drive -- great game and she was awesome
did she just skip high school, college and go with Team USA?

Hurt her ankle sliding into 2nd on Saturday. Not sure if she could have played but coaches were not taking that risk with Ok. City coming up.

That is why most pitchers when they get to a certain age group only pitch. risk of injury. I would be surprised if billy lets her hit the rest of the year.

Cat - saw the game as well. ?Good game and #10 is definitely an above average 14u pitcher but I am not quite as ready as you to put her up there with Cat, Monica and Lisa. ? ICE hit their share of shots off her and they were just a great play by the right fielder away from being right back in it (and aren't they 14U too??). ?She's good but c'mon.... ?perhaps your DD? ?From looking at all of your posts, you're quite the Slammer fan.... ? ?;)

not necissarily a slammers fan, just a fan of good softball
dd plays on an older team on the big lake, just happen to catch slammers at willoughby last year and enjoy watching them play -- and i enjoyed the ice game because it was back and forth early
i don't care what people think of their coach other than he takes big chances, i just enjoy watching girls hustle and play the game right
the fillies kid is way above average as an accomplished pitcher -- all i know is she's won every game i've seen her pitch at whatever age group
