I like the Maumee /Toledo fields, ( the ones with the waterpark). The covered bleachers at Rotary are nice also....

That would be Rolf Park
They are awesome parks, but the crushed limestone is not the best choice of field surface. Dirt would make them top in state. Love playing at Rolf and CYO.

Boardman - Have to agree on the Boardman votes as my #1 - have played there a lot over the past several years. Great fields, two of them perfect for softball with great dimensions, scoreboards, nice views, sideline fence not precisely at that annoying "eye" level (it's below). Hard fast fields, tarps, and they can take water well.

I digress, but, I also really like the food - great variety, a grill going for fresh burgers, home cut fries .... a little like a softball carnival with games going on in every square inch of dirt & grass, and the smell of vinegar fires in the air. Parking could use a little work, I am always thankful when I have successfully slithered through that "tight" lot. I ALWAYS look forward to playing there.

Marysville & Massillon - very nice also from a hospitality and venue point of view. Love it when you can watch 4 games at once, pretty easily, from a central location. Problem with these two is that you are constantly dodging foul balls as a spectator. Marysville has a hard fast field also, which I like compared with the sand pits you find at some places.

Beekman - by far the nicest & most plush fields, expertly groomed - have witnessed Stingray's parents & coaches crawling on all four limbs at times trying to make it perfect before a game. Just a difficult venue for logistics, parking, etc. But a beautiful park which I always look forward to visiting, once I am parked and the gear, cooler, family (etc) is at the field for the day. But, when I am in the parking lot, I feel like the early settlers must have felt figuring a route to use for the wagon train to get to some distant destination, and then relying on faith, hope, and determination that most of my family will survive the journey, and that we will eventually link up with others "like us". ?;D ?:p

The four field complex at Pickerington Central has my vote. Close enough to watch all four games at one time, and netting to protect the innocent.

I would wager that if someone started a "worst" parks thread, Softball World would be in the top two!!
Horrible!! >:(

I like the Toledo fields, followed by Zanesville and North Ridgeville. We have not played on the Boardman fields yet.

My vote for the worst PARKING LOT (liked the diamonds) has to be Pastime park in Harrison, a gravel pit masquerading as a parking lot. Ive seen less dust at Baja...

I agree with Rolf in Toledo and Boardman's Field of Dreams complex. I have played at both parks many times and they have always been fantastic, both well kept first class facilities!

other things to consider are cooler friendly and no gate fee parks-one reason why we like Rotary Park. Not the highest end fields when compared to some... but helps with the "total package".

This should be turned into a Poll for easier scoring.

My favorite is Field of Dreams in Boardman for all of the same reasons that were previously mentioned

Doesn't ?the TD determine if there is a gate fee, not the park?

Have not played at Boardman yet, but for Ohio parks, one of the best "overall" has to be Genshaft in Massillon. Well groomed, temporary fences and decent parking. I just really wish they would fix the woman's bathrooms to be a little higher lol.

The Pickerington fields are also very, very nice - not sure exactly which ones but whatever fields are used to play the Ohio Classics fall tournament on are the ones I am referring to.

The Defiance fields are also up there - played there for ASA states one year.

Pickerington Central and Pickerington North are Girls softball only. Each HS has a four diamond hub with dugouts and bleacher seating, Central is better with vertical backstops and netting over the bleachers. 200" fences plenty of parking. Johnsonville brats! what more could you ask for. - the best part is... I get to practice there when ever I want :)

I will chime in here. I have played at just about every complex in the state and the ones at Pickerington are tops in my book. The only thing that they do not have is WALKING TACOS. Dave - I have a receipe if you would PLEASE add it to the menu. If not, I will have to go with BEAVERCREEK.

Johnnies,

After all this talk about walking tacos - I had to try one as I just love mexican food. Finally had my first one at Marysville this year. I must admit - they are quite delicious. I've definitely been missing out!! LOL. ;D
