Whatever it takes to play. USSSA already has their rules. Not bad.

In the press conference they also mentioned that the Acton order for schools to be closed until June 30th applies specifically to the buildings and that the ground (fields) should be able to open sooner.
Specifically what the Lt Governor said was that the school grounds were never closed, it was just the buildings, so the grounds are actually technically open now and that it would be up to each of the various school districts and municipal govts as to whether they allow access to those grounds for softball, baseball tourneys Etc. For instance, my daughter played on the Classics in 10U ball and we practiced at Pickerington Central along with sponsoring a tourney there and playing in another one at North and Central. I know our travel team this year is scheduled to play tourneys in Pickerington two times this summer, so it will be up to Central and North along with Pickerington municipality as to whether those fields can be used.

our school district sent out multiple emails and enforcement people that made it very clear that all school facilities were closed. be that fields, courts, etc. ALL closed and many were booted off.

Was that prior to yesterday? Or did another email just come out again after yesterday's announcement?

they have been closed in their entirety since way back in March. I believe in accordance with OHSAA directives.

Below is what Jerry Snodgrass/OHSAA put out one week ago (5/8/20). At the end of April, OHSAA put out a stronger statement to school administrators that the ODH closure included "stadiums, baseball/softball diamonds and tracks." Last week's memo is an implicit acknowledgment that OHSAA's previous statement was incorrect. It clearly states that athletic facilities are not closed by the ODH order closing schools, but OHSAA is "urging" schools to pretend like it does.

"Update on School OHSAA Mandatory No‐Contact Period As indicated last week, The OHSAA’s “No‐Contact Regulation” is now extended through May 31, 2020. While the OHSAA has no authority over school facilities, we have continued to stay in step with the Governor’s and Department of Health’s regulations to limit mass gatherings by restricting coaches’ physical contact with student‐athletes. While local departments of health are issuing restrictions on non‐instructional facility usage, we urge you to hold off on making facilities available to any non‐school program until the no‐contact period expires."

But on a hot July day, having my catcher come to the dugout and then have to put on a face covering....I worry about that, as well as any girls that struggle with asthma. Also, I know some coaches out there could struggle wearing one on a hot day all day.
