PIPPA PASSES, KY—The Rochester College women's softball team stopped in the state of Kentucky on their way down to Cocoa Beach, FL for the team's spring trip. The Lady Warriors made a stop in Pippa Passes, where they played their first two games of the 2018 season against Alice Lloyd College. RC took both games from the Eagles, the first game ended with a score of 15-4 and the second one of another dominating score, 14-2.

Game one:

The Lady Warriors started off slow and found themselves down 1-3 at bottom of the first inning before taking the lead in the second and never looked back. Rochester went on to put up three runs in the second, two in the fourth, and nine in the seventh. The Eagles were able to push one more run across the plate in the bottom of the fifth.

Rochester ended game one with 20 team hits to the Eagles 2 and had 7 walks to Alice Lloyd's 4.

The Warriors were led offensively in game one by sophomore outfielder Ashley Romanek (Taylor, Mich./Taylor Kennedy HS) as she went 4 for 4 at the plate and scored 3 runs for RC. Chander Hill (Imlay City, Mich./Macomb CC) and Alexis Evans (Hemlock, Mich./Hemlock HS) both ended their night 4-6. Hill had 4 RBIs for Rochester.

Evans was the only Warriors pitcher in game one, as she went all seven innings only allowing 2 hits, 3 earned runs, walked 4 and struck out 5 batters. Evans has a 1-0 record on the season.

Game two:

The Lady Warriors picked up right where they left off in game one, as they were able to take an early 8 to 2 lead at the end of the third inning. After being held scoreless in the fourth, RC went on to score 6 more runs in the top of the fifth and take game two with a 14 to 2 mercy win to give them a 2-0 record before they got back on the road to Florida.

Just like game one, RC dominated in the hitting column of the box score as they ended with 15 team hits to Alice Lloyd's 4.

Senior shortstop, Jenna Dominek (Armada, Mich./Macomb CC) had a big game going 4 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. Brooke Snyder (Willis, Mich./Ypsilanti Lincoln HS) added a home run to her season stats with a blast over the centerfield fence.

Snyder not only had a good game at the plate but dominated inside the circle for RC as she went all five innings only allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks. Snyder earned her first win of the season.

Coach Sharpley on the season opener:

"I'm extremely proud of our team's growth this year. All the hard work and dedication over the winter is really starting to pay off. I'm blown away by how hot our bats are this early in the season, which means there's so much more to come. Also, the team's camaraderie is at an ultimate high that makes them play with a "never back down" attitude. I believe in the upcoming weeks; we'll definitely show everyone what the real RC Softball team is made of."
