OUTCASTfastpitch 16u team's youngest player, Laurel Hopf, is one to watch this year playing for the Centerville MS Gold team. Played 14u as a 12u and now a 13u, plays 16u. Tough as nails catcher and one of our best bats....hooyah!

I never even heard of the OUTCAST. Who and where do they play? Where are they from? Are they even from Ohio? Have they been to ASA Nationals?

It is funny to see parents that are coachs puting thier own DDs name on here.Is it just wishful thinking?;&
The higher you build a young girl up the further they have to fall.
At this age these young ladies are dealing with so much (ie there bodies, friends, school ect). The more pressure you put on them the harder it can be for them to be great. Why make it harder for them.

And shame on you for puting your own kids name on here.:lmao:

Hey flexone and toledoted, lighten up, the world isn't according to you.
That's one of the big problems with this board, people like you who
think they know everything and always calling someone else out. Please do
us all a favor, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Did I name names no.Did I call anyone out NO..Your calling people out. What did you put your kids name on here?:lmao:
What I said about parents puting there DDs name on here I stand by.Its sad.Real sad.Couse thats the only way thier kids name is going to be put out for people to see.Not by the merits of there own ability.
I dont think I know everything and I didnt call anyone out.I simply wrote the truth. And sometimes the truth hurts. So sorry if I hurt you. Here have a tissue......

This post is stupid :( They are ONLY 8th graders. So much more to learn...no matter what the skill level...and different girls get it @ different times. Get off the soap boxes...it's pathetic. :( Oh, and I agree...I've identified a few postings of some dads highlighthing their DD's...stop your bragging. Even if you have that Superstar DD...let someone else highlight her. Only then will you truly know she's making a statement...otherwise keep working on her game. I'm not identifying anyone..because you know who you are...JMHO ;&

Hmmmmm.....a young lady's father stating that she is a good player, and in this case, an 8th grader to keep an eye on, diminishes her ability in your eyes? Is it your position that at 13 year old girl playing with 17 year old girls is the rule and not the exception? Interesting point of view.

There are a number of 8th grade girls out there that have the ability to play at the high school level, pointing them out certainly does not do them a disservice. However those of you making a point to attempt to discredit these 8th graders, to use one of your words, actually is pathetic. It would be amusing for you to come to a game where these 8th graders are playing and voice your opinion to the crowd. I can hear you now, "That weren't there a double, her kin is her coach, that ain't count!".

The real disservice here is your postings, as many people know who you are. And one last piece of advice, try using a spell checker, it might give your opinions a little more clout, although the flawed logic, poor grammer and punctuation are also distracting.... ;&

I ask a question and now I'm not saying something nice? My point is I have never heard of the Outcast, so I ask where and who do they play. There are many girls who play up, but that doesn't make them a player. Paige Myers played up when she was younger, but it was against heady competition the best. If you are playing against sub competition, then it isn't that big a deal to play up. If you come back and say we play the Nightmare, the Wolfback, the Classics Black, the Stingrays, and the Lasers to name a few I know of every weekend, then you are legit.

Actually, I think there is nothing better than the support of these girls that they are getting from their dads. I would expect nothing more. I put that in the category of unconditional love. There is nothing better than a supporting father in the eyes of a young teenage daughter. I can pesonally tell you that these girls are the real deal. They have worked hard to get where they are today.

A supporting father can easily encourage their daughter to work harder. And you know what, it is even bigger than then the game of softball. When its time forthem to leave home for college, she goes on to take that Final exam, go on that big job interview. Marriage, children etc. She will always know that there is her "dad" right there ready to move a mountain, or stop a train or just simply to show that he believes that his daughter can do anything. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.

Flex - I doubt there are any 13 y/o's playing the 16u Nightmare, 16u Wolfback, 16u Classics Black, 16u Stingrays or the 16u Lasers, although she did go 2 for 2 against the 16U Classics Purple a couple weekends ago...

Really this thread is to put out names of some up and coming younger girls preparing to enter the high school arena. I think anyone trying to say an 8th grade player is not good enough for their name to be put out on this thread on this bulletin board by their dad, coach, stepdad, uncle, brother sister or stranger might have some other issues going on, either way, I welcome hearing about all the 8th graders that we should keep an eye on, especially when school ball starts and I have the opportunity to watch them play!!! :yahoo:

Well said Scott, I couldn't agree more!!

Re: Who are the 8th graders to watch out for next

The catcher for the Ashland Blaze 16u is an 8th grader. Very good defensively as well as at the plate. Not sure of her name but I think she goes to Hillsdale High School.

I believe I know the girl you are talking about, but she is a freshman for Hillsdale not an eighth grader. Hillsdale does have some excellent talent in the eighth grade class, there are 3-4 players that have a shot of making varsity as freshmen.

When this thread was started 2 of the girls on the Nightmare were in 8th grade.
I think many of the girls mentioned early on are now freshmen in High School

just speeking of taylor saxon of logan elm does not play 16u or 18u and hasnt been exposed to travel at all till last year i heard a few high school baseball coaches say she would be their star and starting ss as a 7th grader.some girls just got it and you cant argue that my dd and your dd can work there tails off and maybe never attain what this girl would have spending half of the effort.she gives a 110% though there maybe better girls this is to promote these girls not to bicker among parents(so typical kids have fun parents bring tur moil)spell check that i think it is right

Man, a thread can run for about a year! That is dedication. But I do think that Yogi looks much better in his mask!!! Well, at least when he was a player.

I've seen Laurel and she is the real deal (solid defense and heavy bat), I'm neither her father nor her coach but she has picked up some games for me in the past year and I think the world of her. No matter where I am Laurel can play for me anytime. And dad you keep bragging on her I got your back.
