A post got me thinking, having plenty of experience in being wrong, I thought I could get others opinions.

Would you rather as a coach, parent or player win a big tournament or win a state championship with your school?

Be honest lol

You don't get signs entering your town borders for a big tournament win....

I would rather win a state title just becuase are school does not have many state titles. I would have just as much excitment winning a big tournament as a state title but everyone in your community will see your state title trophy at your school that you won.

Nothing like winning a High School State Championship. My daughters are both done playing HS ball and neither of them were on a team that had a remote chance to win a state championship. A few years ago after 4 years of hard work our HS program finally broke thru and won a state title and nothing matched the feeling or the pride that it brings to the entire city.

I have been lucky enough to have some success (and great players) with traveling teams over the past years and we won some nice tournaments like GAPSS, SluggerFest and others. While they were all great the feeling that a player gets representing her local HS and town is tough to match. Great travel ball wins last for a while. At some point they dust off the trophies and store them away. A State High School Championship lasts forever and they will display that hardware always.

I, for one, would love to use the money I won at the 13u Ohio Stingrays Texas Hold'em Tournament March 7 @ the Baltimore VFW Hall, where doors open at 4 p.m. and play begins at 5 p.m. while the cash table begins at 6 p.m., to fully fund my HS team program to help it win the state championship.

For the impact on the rest of the community - High School Championship by far. Mason reaching the final 4 the last two years has really spurred growth.

2006 Rec - 10 teams, 120+ girls.

2009 Rec - 23 teams, 275+ girls.

At least 12-15 have moved onto select teams this spring from last year...

You know what would really spur their growth? A great time at the Stingrays 13u Poker tournament March 7 at the Baltimore VFW Hall. Cash table starts at 6 p.m. .... OMG, it's either addictive, or I'm being directed by a force outside my body.

High School State Championship ... by a landslide.

Now, if you compared it to an NSA or ASA "National" Championship (maybe that is what you meant?), then I would at least struggle with a decision.

Agree with pickledad. If it's an ASA "A" or Gold national title, then I'd probably go with that. Anything short of that and I'd rather have the state title.

For what its worth our travel (tools of the game)team won a state tourny last year, and our high school team(east central) with alot of the same girls went to the state finals before getting beat.

the community support for the high school the phone calls and congratulations we received was incredible

the following week we won the Indiana state usssa 16u in Brownsburg In and the only people that knew about was the parents and players

high school sports can be hard to take some times if things dont work out for you as an individual, but the experience of the TEAM AND COMMUNITY coming together when times are good cant be matched in travel ball

ASA Gold and A National Champions beats HS State Champions IMO. HS State Champs for everything else.
