What would you rather win?

State title is forever, the ride to getting there is fun to sectional, district, semi finals and then the final game. The community and school are so into the ride. Great time..

For what its worth our travel (tools of the game)team won a state tourny last year, and our high school team(east central) with alot of the same girls went to the state finals before getting beat.

the community support for the high school the phone calls and congratulations we received was incredible

the following week we won the Indiana state usssa 16u in Brownsburg In and the only people that knew about was the parents and players

high school sports can be hard to take some times if things dont work out for you as an individual, but the experience of the TEAM AND COMMUNITY coming together when times are good cant be matched in travel ball

Wouldn't this point up to the fact that more needs to be done to acquaint the wider sports community to travel ball news? Our local newspaper has a fastpitch columnist -- during the spring and summer -- who writes news items on tournament results and happenings as part of following the local high school standouts. The idea would be to get an idea of the potential audience of those who would be interested in news like that?

LOL - I used to do some articles for JJ Huddle occasionally regarding High School baseball & softball games & features. I can remmeber a few years ago I offered to do an article/feature on travel ball focusing on the Slammers & Laser Silver teams. They were huge rivals at 12u, both went to Roseville California for ASA-A, both finished in the Top 10. Seemed like a lot of good "angles", that were newsworthy, of good local amateur interest, with the potential to promote the sport.

CRICKETS, crickets I tell you! .... I could almost even detect slight "laughter" embedded in the typed letters "NO THANKS" coming electronically from the keyboard on the other end. Oh well .....

BTW, although my dd was not a part of that team, I do enjoy arriving back in Hudson and seeing the sign at the edge of town .... Home of the 2007 Ohio State Softball Champions :yahoo:

Unless it was something like ASA nationals, I think high school would be my preference.

now the question is how many parents have girls that play on a gold team

Good question Coach, my guess is that it would be close to the amount of girls that go on to play college ball seeing as how the top ranked teams normaly recruit from there.
So lets say 1 to 2 %?.... think that would be a fair guess.
But the question was what would you as an individual rather win.... I would prefer ASA National, or maybe someday if my dd keeps eating her wheaties maybe we can chase that Gold...........

What are there like 2 Gold teams based out of Ohio this year or maybe just 1? Many have already committed or are already playing College ball.

would I rather win a a tournament I had a chance to even compete in or high school title?

600-750 HS fastpitch players can claim they are state champs in any given year, and you are in very good company. Only 12-18 fastpitch players can claim they are Gold national champs, and you are the elite of the elite. I would personally want to be the elite of the elite.

Being in very good company would be nice also.......

ASA Gold or even ASA A Nationals. It's my understanding that MVXpress and Ice-Poole are the only Gold in Ohio, correct me if I'm wrong.

High School title more for the community.

Amen to that Lenski! After all how many softball players have gotten the chance to win a Gold medal at the Olympics? I am on the same page with you. National Championship of the Elite and making a huge name for yourself pricesless. High School, memorable but not the same level.

Not really going out on a limb, but I agree.
