Stat, you will not be disappointed. Jamie puts on a good show, very good competition. I will add that the parents/field crew do an excellent job of maintaining the fields. Looks sunny for Saturday, High 57, Sunday sunny high of 54. Going to be chilly in the morning games.
Jamie and the Wolfpack Organization pulled off some magic to get the fields ready to play. The start was delayed 2 hrs and went to 75 minute drop dead to get the games in today and Sunday will be back on schedule. The start was a bit wet, but the fields were drying out quickly, great job WolfPack. Seen some some very good play today and some bombs being hit despite the cooler temps.
Jamie and his organization put on another excellent "Showcase Tournament" When I contacted him at 5 AM on Saturday he was already on site at the fields and was able to give me the new projected starting time (which was exactly right). When I got to the fields at 8 AM he and 18 parents were very busy spreading diamond dry, running leaf blowers and raking. A great effort by the organization to make sure that the teams got to play!!
The Road Runners would like to say "THANK YOU" for a job well done.
Alright people...you know I need my Monday morning Fastpitch fix...lol. So lets get some scores, highlights and general softball talk going! Good Grief, the "Fall Best of the Best" only has all the best teams/players from the great state of Ohio playing in it and it feels like a cemetary on here...lol. For you coaches who know me, I know you don't want me to start making my Monday morning phone calls like I do in the summer...hahaha.
I'm not too sure that results from this Showcase mean very much. Many of the teams that participated were not the same ones that will be playing in the summer. The Road Runner team was a combination of two teams (just players that were available to play and had not committed). They beat Lasers Aqua, Metro Express, Wizards and Stingrays - Morman. They lost to Classics Purple.
Getting to play in front of several college coaches might mean a lot. I think there were 20 some colleges represented; possibly more.
fall ball is a poor indication of what will happen next summer. It does allow a nice diversion from work however. And yes, always good to get our ohio girls in front of the college guys. Chris Blair is a good friend of mine --just wanted to know how they fared. MD
