Too Quiet in the GWOC

Re: To Quiet in the GWOC

This is just a guess - but did Bethany pitch in this game? I am thinking not!!

Not sure I follow the thinking that any pitcher is above being on the losing side of any game...without their team mates they are just a pitcher....not often have either of these two had to taste the bitterness of a loss, but dang on any given day any pitcher can be beaten if they and their team mates are not on their A game........lets face it for anyone to beat Northmont or Lebanon or Greenville......they must have their A game going and be a darn good team to do it.

I totally agree with what you are saying. The margin of error is small and it definately takes a team effort every game.

Also it should be pointed out that every time good teams like this get together it is often decided by the small things, not the big things. Kudos to both teams again and way to represent the GWOC.

Re: To Quiet in the GWOC

I'll even take it a step farther, I do not feel comfortable playing too many teams in the GWOC. I feel on ANY given day MANY of the teams could compete with a lot of teams.
I look at a team Like Springfield who has a pretty good pitcher in Bartolo (butchered that spelling I am certain). They have not won a game in the Central, but think they have the potential to win a couple tournament games if the bracket was right.
Lebanon is an outstanding team. Wayne is outstanding, Centerville has some players and can bring it and beat you, Miamisburg has some great bats all the way through their lineup, Fairborn is scary good, Butler and Fairmont are very good teams. Beavercreek and their young pitcher have some talent to beat you on any given day.
Out of league Greenville is as good as we have faced and have a dominating pitcher in Fisherback.
Honestly, I think any of these teams are capable of winning some games and upsetting teams, but Lebanon and Greenville are so good because of their great pitchers. Jess has done an incredible job for a very young Northmont team this year too.
There is a lot of luck involved in the game too, and last night Northmont was good enough to beat Lebanon, but they were lucky some balls were hit at people and some balls made it through. It is a game of inches sometimes.

Congrats to the Wayne Warriors!!!!

Hey, if we could get the games shortened to 3 innings, Centerville might have a chance!!!

Hope your 1st base is ok, it was my oldest daD (and da noes not stand for darling awesome!) that plowed her over...she definitely got an earfull all night about that. She is very sorry and I hope you guys know that is not how Centerville plays ball. Congrats though and good luck in the tournament, do GWOC proud!!!

GMC has been decided also - Mason Comets are currently 15-1 with only 2 games left to go on the season and Lakota West, Lakota East and Fairfield all have 4 losses - that wraps up Mason's first official Conference title in more then 35 years!!!

Congrats to the Mason Comets and the 9 seniors who get to rejoice in thier accomplishment!!!

Centerville FP;

Don't be too hard on her, sometimes the heat of the action or frustration of the play can get to a player. 1B is fine and ready to go for tomorrow. Both your girls are players and everything is a learning situation. Good luck to the Elk' in the tourney. daD now that made me laugh as I have a few of my own at times!

Piqua......................Wayne........................Miamisburg
Troy.......................Springfield....................Springboro

Hey I didn't do too bad...missed Sidney in the North, Wayne bit me in Central and Springfield is way better than last....Miamisburg and Fairborn tricked me in the South....

Told you at the beginning of the season , Fairborn was way to young and immature, not enough upperclassman leadership. I seem to be the only one that wasnt surprised at their finish.

Unfortunately the score does'nt tell the story. Game was 0 - 0 through 5 innings with both pitchers throwing very good games. Butler had a couple mis-played balls in the 6th inning to load the bases when Wayne delivered the knockout punch with a single up the middle that was over-run by the Butler centerfielder allowing the bases to clear.

Overall, Butler has had a nice season. They were able to win the GWOC North Division with a very young team. At the start of the season, there were only 3 girls returning with varsity experience and most games were played with 5 sophomores and a freshman on the field. The early season showed several games with multiple errors that were costly to the team. As the season progressed, and the errors were eliminated, the ladies began to gel and put together a string of wins. Hopefully the ladies can use this season as a building block for the next couple years and get the Butler softball program heading in a good direction. The future looks bright for the Lady Aviators.
