Last week at the Strongsville (Cleveland Metro) tournament. I believe that the list is a bit out of date, since I'm virtually certain that Ohio Intensity, Ohio Ice, Lasers Black, Cincy Doom 95 (all the previous having qualified at States), and Maddogs (Region 9 tourney that never took place) are going. I haven't heard yet about the Cincy Metro bid, but I'm assuming that it went to Doom 96.

These are the paid entries on the website. I added Buckeye Heat 95 because i knew we were going.

Cincy Metro to be decided tonight between Riptides and Doom 96.

Best of three series tied 1-1.

Um, I think I've made my preference clear on other posts. ;&

It meant that we couldn't go to Orrville or Picktown, but it was worth it. We traveled a lot in quest for the berth, but now we get to enjoy Stingrays (Picktown the first two days), Marysville, and GAPSS before heading out to Illinois.

Mike, could you elaborate on this? Is this a make-up from a tournament or were these the only teams that applied?

Only teams that applied. 16U was a Best of three also between two teams (EMR and Cincy Storm). EMR won 2 of 3 to take 1st.

JoeA1010 will be there! That's what I'm talkin' about!!!

I was coming to Ohio around that time, anyway, and when the Buckeye Heat 95 qualified, I had to go. I didn't even know you could register as a college coach for 14-U tournaments. I would imagine I will be the only Div. III coach in attendance. Mainly, it gets me in for free and probably some nice hospitality beverages or whatever, lol.

So anyone here who I haven't met or haven't seen in a few years, please look me up! I will be at any Heat 95 game and probably games involving the Washington Sidewinders or any other Wash or Oregon teams that are there. I imagine I'll need to see the Intensity play as well.

That was a pretty unique way to decide the berth. Some "outside the box" thinking.

Not sure why, but I feel i have to defend the comment about the region 9 tourney that never took place.

Every team in Ohio had the opportunity to enter the tournament. the other teams must have felt it was too important to enter other tournaments. It sounds as though the Cincy Metro has the same situation. If the Doom 96 had previously earned a bid elsewhere and chose to drop out, that would mean the Riptides would be awarded the bid automatically.

the Maddogs just entered every qualifying tournament they could in an effort to win a bid. the only way to qualify is to enter. the tournament director took our money in good faith. all the rules were followed to the letter. not sure what was done wrong by the team.

so if by chance we chose not to go, and the bid is passed on, will that team get comments for getting a bid for a tournament they didn't enter? what about the Doom 95? they actually didn't place. they were passed a bid. is that any different?

just some thoughts to ponder.

Woolfy, I don't think that anyone is throwing rocks at the Maddogs, I took it more as a jab at the tournament. A few years back, I think the Slammers also received a berth when they were the only team that entered a qualifier so they were awarded the berth. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Doom 96 is up 4-1 in the bottom of 6th in the rubber games series was tied 1-1 after last night.

7-1 final. Riptides fought very hard until the end as usual. We came out hitting, ran the bases aggressively and played great defense.

We are very excited about going to Moline!
