Excellent group of colleges represented. The list continues to grow every year. I think that the change to 4 pool games and then single elimination was a big help for the coaches to best schedule their time.

We were pleased with the amount of coaches who attended our games.

Thanks to Rudy and his staff for improving this event every year.

My question would be "Did any of the girls email those coaches and let them know that they were playing in a big showcase this weekend?"

Coaches don't just show-up at a tournament if there are no girls there that are showing interest in their school.

By trying to attract more out-of-state teams, then the colleges that the girls on those teams have interest in will be invited, by the players, to come and see them play and thusly the list of attending colleges will increase.

Many where at the NFCA camp on Thursday that took notice and watched kids play that weekend. I agree with Rich, coaches were watching almost every game we played. One put down the profile sheet of the other teams players and got one of ours, since we were winning the game. Been to many of her camps and these coaches were making notes on many different players. Just because you are too young, doesn't mean they are not taking notes. It also pays to follow up with an e mail. Keep in mind the D3's can recruit earlier.

We have 80 plus kids that have attended college or are currently in college due to softball.

Many choose not to move too far away from home and that is a fact and is a consideration!

Some have moved back more towards home. Four hours away is sometimes in their mind too far away. Especially when they come home every weekend or you have to push them out the door on Sunday evening!

They being the kid, usually did a poor job of selecting the college first as to an educational institution and secondly did a poor job of understanding who the coach was that wanted them verses after they get to school and proclaim this is not the coach that recruited me! :D Talk to the seniors who have nothing to loose about the coach who tells you they will not change a thing about your pitching or hitting and then after you get there it is not their technique and want to change it all.

Many do not understand they will be putting in 25 to 30 hours a week on softball and can you spell time management :lmao:

You prepare their meals, do their laundry and many only operate with a debit card and as long as there is cash in the bank it is a beautiful world. A lot of you even carry their bat bag.

Do your home work as the person who tours you on your visit is trying to sell you on the school and the coach. Look at how many have transferred in the last couple of years and that is a clue something went South after they got there.

Then as parents look at yourself in the mirror and ask what YOU have done to prepare them to leave home. Most of these kids can not even do their own laundry or check the oil in the car or put air in the tires!

So I hope you have AAA on speed dial. One of our kids comes home every three weeks....to do laundry!

You have huge expectations on what school YOU want them to go to for bragging rights however both of you should consider what your daughter wants and prepare her for the college experience....just my opinion!

If your daughters are that good UCLA, Arizona, Washington etc will find you as there are a lot of Alumni that maintain contacts and are always lurking and you do not even know it. Think about that next time you are storming the side lines complaining about the coaches or coaching from behind the chain link fence as you will not be allowed to approach your daughter in a college game!

The Sting Rays did a great job getting coaches to attend and hopefully you were ready for them.

Surprised to see a FL (#27 on list) coach there. May be D3, but who cares. It's FL.

Tim had to check the website cause did not know what she looked like, but she was standing across the bleachers from me and it looks like Lawson.

Did your DD send the Tennessee, Arizona and Washington coaches an email informing them she was playing in the Stingray tournament on such-n-such team, field # and game time? That could be why they weren't there...

Funny to hear the UK coach said she didn't attend Ohio tournies because I am pretty sure she had a couple Laser's on the team when I saw them play OSU at the regionals this year.

With the success of teams that are NOT loaded with West coast players I'd like to think even the big boys would past the mentality of "if's she not from Ca I won't look too hard or too long" . you are gonna miss the boat bigtime on some serious studs if you think that way. MD

I read a comment from Lawson(can't remember where)about her recruiting philosophy. She said she starts with the 7 states touching Kentucky then moves outward to fill her recruiting classes. The roster reflects this. Quite a few midwestern kids.
