National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Administered Recruiting Camp

We are excited to announce that the NFCA/Ohio Stingrays Recruiting Camp is coming to Columbus. Participation in this camp is an outstanding way to showcase softball talent to a large cross-section of college coaches. In a camp setting, coaches get to see lots of repetitions at the defensive position and double digit swings at the plate. It guarantees that coaches see athletes field, throw and hit, in case these opportunities don?t present themselves in a game situation.

The 2010 NFCA/Ohio Stingrays Recruiting Camp is Thursday, July 8th at The Ohio State University?s Fred Beekman Park. The Ohio Stingrays Tournament immediately follows this camp on the morning of July 9th.

The NFCA/Ohio Stingrays camp application must be completed online between the dates of February 1 and May 1. Please go to http://www.nfca.org/camps/ to access and complete the application. Note: the application must be completed after February 1 on the NFCA site and not on the Stingrays site.

In 2009, the NFCA administered and endorsed camps together attracted more than 6,000 applicants and 1,000 college coaches from around the country. Don't miss this opportunity in 2010 to showcase your softball skills to the large population of college coaches who will be scouting this Camp. Coaches registered to recruit at the NFCA/Ohio Stingrays camp will be listed on the NFCA website by early June. <www.NFCA.org>

The recruiting camp is divided into the following sessions:
Outfielders/Catchers: 8:30 a.m. - 11:25 a.m.
Pitchers: 11:30 a.m. - 2:25 p.m.
Infielders: 2:25 p.m. - 5:20 p.m.

Please submit your application based on the softball position to be showcased. All applicants will be contacted shortly after May 1, the NFCA/Ohio Stingrays application deadline, with information related to camp status. No payment is required until after May 1 when the letter of acceptance is received.

Additional information is located on the NFCA website as indicated above. The FAQ page provides answers to most of the commonly asked camp questions.

Again, please remember that the NFCA/Ohio Stingrays Recruiting camp is administered by the NFCA, not the Ohio Stingrays Tournament staff.

Address all camp questions by emailing camps@nfca.org or calling 662-320-2155.

Why should I attend an NFCA recruiting camp?

1. To allow college coaches to scout me in a professionsl atmosphere and in a relatively short period of time.

2. To allow the college coach lots of reps at my choosen position.

3. To guarantee a college coach sees me field, throw, and hit in case I don't get that chance in a game.

4. To permit the college coach to select athletes to follow in the upcoming tournament.

5. To get my profile, including contact information, academic information, academic/athletic honors and individual statistics, in the hands of lots of college coaches.

6. To get my camp results posted on the web site for all coaches to review.

7. So that my parents and I can attend the recruiting seminar to enhance my knowledge of recruiting rules, eligibility requirements, and expsoure opportunities.

Shane, there has been no "selection process" so far - the only process related to the tournament that has been going on is "data collection". The postmark deadline for entries was Saturday. Realistically, that means entries could be received through Tuesday. Our group will meet later this week to look at all of the entries as an entity for each age group. Until that is done, no decisions are being made.

The entry form stated that all teams would know their playing status by Monday morning the 23rd at 8 am. Even after the decisions are made, it takes a bit of time to organize all of the e-mails for the respective teams. That is why it will take through this upcoming weekend to get everything sorted out - hence the Monday morning deadline.

Didn't expect anything yet:)...consider it a free bump and a way to spark a little conversation.:yahoo:
