When I look at the lists I see every team recruits a large area and then I see the Gahanna Lions who played with and beat many of the teams and finished 6th at the NSA World Series with all but one girl residing in Gahanna. And watch out for the 12u team moving up next year.

Coach, you actually tied for 9th with 3 other teams (Louisville Sluggers, Fla. Gators and Fuegay Bombs were the other 3) and New Albany and Newark are a little bit past the City limits.

Not the coach and not even with the 14u team so if I had the finish wrong, my bad. No one from New Albany and I did mention there was 1 girl from outside Gahanna(Newark) 9 of 10 reside in Gahanna. 8 will go to Gahanna Lincoln next year and 1 to Hartley.

12u team also has 9 out of 10 residing in Gahanna with 8 heading to Gahanna Lincoln some day and 1 to Columbus Academy. 1 non Gahanna girl who will attend CSG.

Note to softballmom---in Pennsylvania, there is still only one "state" championship---ASA. Unfortunate that western PA teams avoid playing on the state's big stage in favor of playing in "western part of the state championships", LOL.

Why the big deal about a team being above average and all from the same town? How many state titles does the high school have?

I think it is a big deal. All the teams listed hold open tryouts, recruit from a large base area even the entire state and are always advertising for players on sites such as this. Our program was the only one mentioned that 99% of the time sticks with girls from our community. We were just honored and proud to be mentioned by several people.

As for the High School program, the 2 age groups mentioned 12u and 14u are just beginning their High School careers in the next couple years so it is still to be seen what they will accomplish. But Gahanna Lincoln has had some success in recent years. They were D1 State runner ups in 2002, a regional particpant in 2003 and was ranked #1 in 2005. Last year was a bit of a rebuilding year but should be very good the next 5-6 years.

If they weren't ranked ranked #1 after the last out was made at Brookside, then it really doesn't mean squat.
