We can all speculate and promote the fore mentioned teams, however, the final grade cards will be completed as these teams play in the upcoming nationals against the rest of the country. Then we'll know without doubt the credibility of the 14U Ohio teams.

I know the Laser Purple won in Kalamazoo to earn their berth. Did the other teams win their tournament or was the berth handed down by the winners? Just curious

Played several Ohio teams this year and being from out of state don't have much loyalty to one team over the other. Have played against both the Lasers Purple and Wolfpack Black and seen them play against top competition at both Compuware and Stingrays (14 & 16). They stand out from the rest of the very good teams mentioned and I would rank them #1 - Wolfpack Black, #2 - Lasers Purple.

Westerville Ice - Miller was awarded a berth by an ASA rep after winning the GAPSS tourney. I do believe they will not be going as they had already accepted a berth to the PONY Nationals.

GAPSS can offer a berth to the ASA Eastern nationals. The berths to the ASA "A" nationals can only be won through a "National" and "State" tournament. Howard Honnaker explaned the difference to me several years ago. He told me that no one can offer a berth outside of those two tournaments.

ASA Eastern Nationals is a good tournament , not to downsize any accomplishement. Just trying to set the record straight.

You beat me to the punch "JOE!"

Akron Sapphires rocked this week. Nose to the grindstone work ethic and teamwork all the way. No drama all season, actually make that three seasons, for this core group of girls who have been together since 12u. They are typically under the radar because they don't boast or brag and aren't on the forums promoting themselves - until tonight that is.

You won't find a nicer bunch of girls or parents. They all love fastpitch and are great ambassadors for the game.

I'm getting a little hokey here so I'll sign off, must be the 16-hour day followed by the two hour drive north.

The Ohio Emeralds played and beat many of the mentioned teams or gave them a good game. The Ohio Emeralds need to be in this group.

Can we have a 3 way with the Lasers Purple, Wolfpack Black, and the Akron Sapphires? Maybe an elimination round robin for "Best of Best" in 14U. I'm willing to bet there could be three different winners on three different weekends!

To close to call, all three are GREAT teams that estbablished themselves from the pack this year.

Congratulations to all three number ones in my book!

oldetimer has it right- these girls and a few others mentioned, Lasers Green, Valley Extreme, MadDogs and Lightning - can all play - and depnding on the day of the week, conditions, umps, etc- each and every could win! They all deserve credit
