Doing the same thing .... here is what I gather so far, no particular order:

* Stingrays (Columbus, OH)
* Compuware (Canton, MI - between A.Arbor & Detroit)
* Best of the Best Series (Massillon/Wolfpack)
* GAPSS (Columbus, OH)
* Toledo Tune-up (Toledo, OH - not sure of exact name though)
* Orland Park Sparks - Elgin, IL - supposedly great exposure & competition)

A few other options? ...

* ASA States? - have heard that this draws colleges also? Thoughts?
* Aunt Rosie's (western NY) - Used to be GREAT, heard it fizzled out a little, but might be on the way back? Any thoughts on this one?

Ive been to GAPPS a handfull of times and dont recall seeing any college coaches. In my opinion GAPPS is a week tournament all the strongteams have to play up in age and all the teams that play there age are just average.

Attended Orland Park Sparks last Summer and for the first time saw as many coaches in stands as parents/spectators.

Fields are great, location is @ a resort with Golf Course behind fields, lots of local shopping, truly a setup an entire family can take advantage of as a mini vacation too.

Guaranteed 5 games, then 1 and done scenario.

I actually saw quite a few college coaches at the 18U GAPSS this past year but haven't seen them at all in the younger age groups.

Music City Hits = great exposure, great fields
Out there: Colorado Sparker & Fireworks = Great time, great exposure

To clarify two previous posts the Toledo Tune-up/Midwest College showcase inaugrial event was 2009 and was attened by over 30 midwest college coaches and went over very well. We have a DATA collection session in the morning, with times, speeds, hitting etc. and that data is formated and given to the coaches when the showcase games happen that night. Some Unique things about this: 1. it's all done on saturday of the Tune-up, so no extra travel expense 2. NO 16/18u games are not being played during the DATA session or Showcase games. 3. This season, we will also have 200' fences on all showcase fields! We had to turn away players last year, so register early! More info on the Midwest College Showcase is at: http://www.premiersportingevents.net/MidwestCollegeShowcase.html or contact mark@premiersportingevents.net

Summer of 2008 dd team played in 14U championship game at GAPSS against EMR. There were 3 college coaches sitting behind homeplate taking notes. Everything I am understanding from recruiting/scout experts is that you need to do the legwork for coaches to show up. Most schools have recruiting budgets of $1000! Not much when official visits must come out of that budget too. They can't be just running all over hoping to find some talent. If you want a coach to come, dd needs to invite them!

Tim (bouldersdad), Even though you were grilling me on a different thread...I have to agree with your selections...lol. Have you had a chance to look at the 18U 43 team field for the "Chattanooga Gold Diamond Showcase"? It is stacked with the best that Georgia, Alabama and Florida have to offer!!! I see that Ohio will be represented by 4 teams, maybe we'll hook up for a cold one...lol. :)

Mike, as always you do an outstanding job. I saw at least a half dozen high profile college coaches at the 18U GAPSS last year. I've also talked to at least a half dozen elite travel coaches and everyone of them likes the move to the 23-25th weekend. It should be a great tuneup for ASA Nationals, and if NSA Nationals are at Berliner it will serve as a great tuneup for them as well!!! :)
