Looks like the 12u action is going to be plentiful this year. Sounds like the 14u tourney was exciting, but I believe the 12u teams, except for the ones that played in the 14u age bracket, will turn some heads and have a wonderful weekend as well. Goodluck to all and remember it is not about winning and losing, you girls are already winners because you are striving to be the best you can be and that is what counts most. In my book all girls that put the time and dedication it takes to learn and play this game are champions and should be put on the pedestal whenever possible. Goodluck to all as it should be a blast.

Any 12U chatter for GFOD this weekend?
Is there a line for STEAK DINNERS? If so, I want to get in front of Johnnies! Should be a nice warm weekend for the girls!! Big Thanks to LADY_NIGHTS for all of those updates last weekend.

The poll on this thread is flattering but the bottom line is that no team has ever won a tournament via a poll. ?As LakeErieHillbilly said the Toledo teams are tough. ?The Lady Irish Gold has a 14-0 record for the fall scoring an average of 11 runs a game and giving up only 2. ?They also had an impressive USSSA run last year and are returning most of their team. ?They have to be one of the favorites in this tournament. ?

The Classic Purple, coached by my friend Jeff, is another team that cannot be taken lightly. ?I seen them at the Pickerington Fall tournament and they are TOUGH - believe me. ?There will be a lot of great softball this weekend with these two teams - as well as some others that will surprise. ?I do not know much about some of the others, but it has been my experience that many good teams fly under the radar and show up with full body armour in tournaments. ?That is what makes the softball weekends so much fun.

Johnnies,
With a USSSA and a NSA National berth already earned this fall, say what you will, but your Buckeye Heat team is the clear favorite. You starting to sound like another "Jim" we all know....OH----IO.
But you are right, there are some very good teams at GFOD this weekend, and any number of them could take home that ASA Eastern Qualifier Bid.

I agree. There are many good teams entered in the tourney, and it should be lots of fun this week. I am biased toward the Classics Purple. Coach Jeff speaks highly of you! Looking forward to seeing the Ash family too (we go back to our Stingray days).

I believe the Emeralds won this two years ago at the 10U at GFOD. Do they still have the same pitcher"? . She was the best we ran into at the 10U level. We played against them in three tournaments and they won each one of the tournaments. I think we scored 1 run in three games against her.

this should be a very competitive weekend.buckeye heat lady irish and the classics should be the teams to beat.the classics held their own in the 14u/16u winter league at gfod finishing above .500,they also did
well in the fall tournament in pickerington losing in bracket play to the lasers.i believe they are the only 12u team that has scored on the lasers.the buckeye heat are always competitive and have already shown
that they will be one of the 12u teams to beat this spring and summer.the lady irish have put together a very good winter season and will be a difficult team to stop.also better look out for the ohio dragons
they have also played in a winter league against 14u/16u teams and done well.the one thing we all need to remember is that these girls are 11 and 12 years old and for many is their first taste of what travel ball
is all about,so they will need the support of coaches and parents.almost forgot anything can happen when a net is involved.

The 12U tournament will probably be the best one to watch with the strongest talent for a particular age group.
Im intersted in the Lady Irish vs Buckeye Heat game the most. We practiced with the Irish 12U team last friday,and you would think you was looking at a 14U team as big as they are and talented.
SGS Magic is basically their whole 10U team that moved up from this past summer. They,for the most part, dominated teams in the Toledo area. Very strong pitching,and I do mean strong. They also picked up our 'Ace' pitcher from my dd`s team from last year.
As for the Emeralds,they have two teams in 12U this year. One is their '11U' team which was their 10U team from last summer. They won some tournys last summer and are good. Their other 12U team I havent seen play. Was at their tryouts and some of the girls they asked to play for them (right on the spot) were terrific! The girl that will be playing 3rd base/SS for them has about the strongest arm you will see at 12U.
Not sure which of their teams will be there this weekend.

On the road home in 30 minutes to pack the gear up and head to GFOD. Oh yea, pick my kid up to. I forgot her one time a few years ago I was so excited between games. She loves to tell that story. Anyway, good luck to all the teams. I couldn't think of any better place to be this weekend.
