The Slammers swept ASA regional NQ, Compuware, and Orland Park Sparks Invitational in the same season. 55-0 so far. (31-0 in 12U and 24-0 in 14U). 8 tournaments and 8 championships in top level events with 3 titles in 14U averaging 10 runs per game with probally the most prolific offense at this age. Multiple players already on college watch lists with girls having unofficial visits to Northwestern, Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame. :) ;D

They tied Indy Dreams 95 at Compuware 3 to 3.
Having played them twice this year I would say they are the best 12U team in Ohio. We lost to them 4 to 3 ITB and 11 to 2 at Compuware where they pounded the ball. My only concern with them is their depth at pitching.
If Abby would get hurt, they could have some problems.
Answering the question that was posed--Are they the best in Ohio history? The answer would be pure speculation. Two years ago Lasers Green, Miami Valley Express, and Valley Extreme Blue had some outstanding 12U teams. The competition back then was better at 12U. My daughter played on the Valley Extreme team that year and we had some great games with the Lasers and Miami Valley Express.
Indy Dreams that year beat us soundly in Compuware. In my opinion, the competition at 12U two years ago was better.

Camp tcx brings up a valid point. The overall (state wide) talent 2 years ago was far deeper then what's at 12U this year.

Next point, we all know that the Slammers don't count indoor losses (6-5 to the Lasers Silver, 8-5 to the Stingrays 13U) and I forget the 3rd loss, but can make a quick call to GFOD for future reference...lol.

3rd point, are you now not counting tie's on your record. I know that being tied by an all 11U team with a couple of 10U starters can be an embarressment, but it is a REAL game.

In conclusion, yes you are the best 12U team this year...2007. But best ever, wait until you place in the top 5 at ASA or beat the Indiana Shockwave White 13U...Now thats the best 12U team that I ever saw!!!

BTW, do you have an older daughter that played with the Pitts Spirit Black in 2005, I think they were 72-0...lol.

They are a very good organization and they will be good for a long time. They are the model that all teams should try to immitate. They have found success and I would bet that they keep it. Every year new teams pop up and the local talent gets divided up even more. The Slammers have a system in place to reload and their name will help them recruit allot more talent.

I have on seen them once but it was amazing to see littler girls have so much bat control and placement.

12U girls being recurited? I find that hard to belive as well as against NCAA rules? I personaly knew some 12u players that were dominate at 12u but at 14u and 16u are just average players. Im sure that those universities arn't actively seeking out those Slammer girls. Anyone can schedule a unoficial visit.

I have heard many good things about this team. I just hope that their #1 pitcher is not over used to the point of injury.

you would be surprised fastpitchfan11. These players have in fact been contacted by the universities mentioned. There are ties to all four of them, and they are very impressed with the progression of these players.

While they are unique in this part of the country this is pretty normal in California. The level of work that they put in on that team is way too much for some, but just about the same as the top teams out west or a little less. The instructors that they work with are excellent and the girls have taken to it.

IMHO this team and their success will help raise the overall level play of serious players in Ohio, there is no doubt about that. I think that 5 years from now many will thank bigtrain and his group for raising the bar for all of us. They may have a wide gap right now but many will catch up or at least get close over that time period because great competition does that.

I wish them continued success and I cannot wait to see how they do vs the top california teams later this summer. Should tell us alot about where that level of work helps them stack up.

No one said they were being recruited, simply that they are on watch lists. Just because you see coaches at the big tournaments usually looking at older girls doesn't mean they don't look at younger ones if they hear good things about them. I personally know some Division 1 coaches from MAJOR programs who will be going after some of these girls if their level of play is sustained by the time they are juniors in high school.

As FastPitch 11 stated many times the girls in that caliber at that age get caught or passed in their skills as they get older and others mature. I did see them play though at Compuware and was impressed with the pitcher and their hitting, but yes, they are only 12 and have seen that all before and others catch up.

edamame... It is against NCAA rules to contact any player that is not in the summer of their junior year. I just do not see college coaches talking to a 12u player and risking the status of their program. Come on lets have some common sence here. If it is true those universities will pay when caught. This would be easier to get caught with than contact with a freshman in HS because of the nature of the situation.

I don't know anyone on or associated with the little slammers team and I'm sure they are a great team. I also know that everyone playing travel ball at 12U is on someones watch list. College coaches are smart and recognize talent, which I'm sure the slammers team is loaded with, but unless they just started in competitive athletics this season they know the best players at 12U usually are not the best at 19. I have know several pitchers who were dominant at 12u, 14u, and became very average at 16u and 18u. Many players peak at 12 or 14 years of age. fpfan has the right idea let the girls enjoy the game, their success and worry about college a little later.

I don't think anyone should really care if they are being "watched" or not. If they are that is great. Why not have some Ohio talent on some of these teams. I have now seen them play and the girls are great. Although I think that there are a lot of girls around this state that if given the opportunity to train like they do that they could hang with these girls.

But it sounds like they are embellish things a little. How can you say that you are 55-0 when there are some tie games in there? Why are indoor losses not counted? Are the indoor wins included in those numers? Come on if you want to claim to be the best in history then you need to be honest in your record keeping. I am not saying they are not the best right now they are an awesome team but what are you teaching the girls by not reporting the scores completely honestly. I read another thread where excuses were made for the last tie game. Man up and face the facts the girls met some competition and had a rough go with them. That is ok. Don't start acting like those games didn't exsist. But as many have said it will be interesting to see how long they can hold onto being the best in the area. The girls are only 10-13 years old and many things change. Not saying that they all will change but I am pretty sure that some will change their minds at some point. That is why we have such a drop in numbers of teams as the girls all get older. Look at how many 12's are in a tournament compared to 16's and 18's. Some just go other directions and others get burnt out. Personally as long as my daughter is playing her best and happy I really don't care who is the best in all time history. She is on a team that is doing ok. She has progressed a lot this season which is awesome in my eyes. Her coaches are great. That is a main concern of mine. I don't approve of some of the coaching behaviors that I have witnessed in some of these top teams at least not for this age. If that is what it takes to be in that top list then I will just be content with our mediocare team.

Did I miss something, or wasn't the first post a "parody" joke post? With the smileys and all?

Time changes everything people. What about BOYS in their future or wanting to work a job and driving. My dd pitched for 4 yrs. multiple no hitters and championships, outrageous money in lessons and travel. Then 16/17 yrs. old, adolescents sets in, time and hard work is no longer the objective. So let the kids play and have fun. If worried about money for college, push academics, more money available with a brighter future.

Brute, You mean to tell me that softball players fall madly in love at 15-17 just like the rest of the teenage world??? And they want a car, too? Heck if I could make it that far with my dd I would be happy. At 12 she is already turning into a girl.....I thought I had it easy she wouldn't be caught dead in pink ever not even as a toddler and now she is buying pink and wanting to get her nails done. What's next dresses? I don't think I can take it. Haha.
