I can tell you that the 18U ASA National Qualifier will be held in Massillon. I believe from what I have been told that ALL National Qualifiers any age group will be held on July 3rd,4th, and 5th, 2009.
I think that the ASA States for ALL age groups will be June 19, 20, 21, 2009.
ASA Regional for all age groups will be June 26, 27, 28, 2009.
Congrats Jamie! I thought you and your group did a fantastic job with the 16u ASA states last year. If you hear anything more about the other age groups, please keep us posted.
Not totally true! Someone bid it and won the 18U States but then returned the bid. So from what I've heard they are or have already re-bid the 18U State Tournament.
States is during compuware? am I reading that right... that would be one way of keeping Ohio from winning so much. why can't we all get along?
Yes the Classics had won the bid on ASA States at 18u but we had bid hoping to give us two or more age groups so we returned our bid when we found we only had 18u. (I couldn't run a tournament I wasn't going to be competing in)
I guess I am a bit confused (need clarification as well). Are you hosting a 18U region 9 in Massilon on the weekend of 6/26 and a USA A National Qualifier the following weekend.
I apologize if I am missing the obvious here but that is what I am understanding from your post.
Last year Compuware was the week before ASA States, this year it is moved out one week further into June this creating the inevitable overlap with something of ASA importance in Ohio. The week before (June 14), Michigan State High School softball finals are still going on up there. Maybe that has something to do with Compuware moving their dates.
Very interesting..Compuware is the same weekend as ASA state tournament. So where do you go? Compuware will have a multitude of area (OH, IN, MI) coaches looking at players in at least 2 or 3 age groups. Or do you say nuts to college coaches at Compuware, we're going to try to qualify for ASA nationals and hope the girls will be seen there? Keep in mind that only one bid was awarded in the Qualifier, Regional, and maybe 2 bids for State. It's too bad that these kinds of major tournament decisions need to be made that could potentially affect players' futures. I would think that some resolutions could be made to avoid these conflicts, but I'm at a loss to suggest a reasonable compromise. The only idea that I have is to only host 2 qualifiers in Ohio - the ASA States (2-3 bids) and the National Qualifier (1 bid). And to set one week end for each and keep it consistent from year to year. With 3 qualifiers teams are being forced to give up playing in quality invitational tournaments. JMHO
I think that Compuware dates have always been the weekend of Father's Day. I know that in the past the Michigan state tournament was being played the same weekend as Compuware and some Michigan teams were without players until Sunday or late Saturday.
I - like many others on this forum have sent an email to Warren Jones requesting dates and locations of the ASA State and Regional events and received no response. I find it hard to believe: 1) He does not yet know this information 2) Chooses not to respond to emails from paying customers.
This information is needed for any organization to put together a schedule that incorporates as many of the best tournaments around as well as still trying to hit the ASA qualifiers. I am afraid many of the deadlines (or tournaments reach their max
# of teams) will have come and gone before we have actual information from the state director.

The Wolfpack won the 18U Region 9 ASA Qualifier for 2009. We also won the 18U ASA National Qualifier. And I guess the Classics (according to Dave above) won the 18U ASA State Bid, but decided to return it.
As stated before the word I got from Warren Jones was that he wanted ALL age groups to be the same.
ASA States June 19,20,21
ASA Regianals June 26,27,28
and
ASA National Qualifier July 3,4,5
I DON"T know if this will be set in "STONE" but that was what I was told.
