ok. my only comment. Hoover, DI champion had one player? no one on 1st or 2nd team? c'mon man. Ericka Warren is one of best catcher's in the state.
Excellent point with Warren.
With no specific selection in mind, every year I scratch my head when I see some of the selections.
It is a crime that some very deserving kids are not recognized. It cheapens the award when someone of lessor talent is given the award over someone more deserving.
Some kids get the award based on their abilities and the year they have had, as it should be. On the other hand, some get it based on something else, such as self-promotion, who they know and, dare I say, what deals are made on their behalf.
I know for our region the voting took place on May 8th.. Whoever won state has nothing to do with it. And this is softball, not Ohio State Football. Never heard of a deal being made so a girl makes all-state. Even so, coaches cannot vote for their own players anyway they can only nominate and then the rest of the coaches vote. But first that means the coach has to have nominated the player first. Also, important to remember - if the high school coach is not a member of the OHSFSCA (coaches association) then none of their players will even be nominated for the chance because they would not be at the meeting if they weren't a member!
lil shout out to current or former Doom players , excuse me if i miss a couple

Alot of politics involved as usual!!If you don't belong to a conference you get snubbed!Caitlin Gambone of Canton Central Catholic was 51 for 99, with over 30 rbi's and 2 homeruns.Probably the best 2nd baseman in the state
as a freshman, and she didnt even get mentioned......plus, I'm not even mentioning her sister Lauren,(.418) who also had over 30 rbi along with Lizzi Weber 41-87(.471)...Probably the best top three hitters in any line up in the state of Ohio!!!Well done Ladies!!!!By the way the team was 21-4 and had an outstandind record vs DI and DII opponents.

selections caused some head scratching for me. In our district we had a team that was sub 500 on the year , finished bottom 1/2 of a weak conference, was run ruled at least 6 times (including a game where they were outscored 32-1) and had 4 girls all district. ?? kinda crazy. MD
Ump5761...sounds good....but those newspaper teams are heavily weighted toward the big schools and you very seldom if ever see D3 or D4 kids on them...so there are flaws in their process as well.
LK --you would just have to see it to appreciate it. Yes a couple good players can be on a bad team, but 4 players on a small d-4 school should equal being competitive. like I said , they were run ruled 5-6 times in conference and also took a 32-1 beating OOC .So good players don't play on bad teams...therefore are not deserving???
