I heard that Wear verballed Wright State. She should be an impact player from what I saw of her.

I saw most of the games in Pickerington and I would say the Seiler kid was in a class of her own. The other two girls mentioned were also very good.

She was good, but against the SW a girl crushed a HR off of her. I know it happens, but Montana Wear was not hit hard at all and was the most dominating pitcher there.

Who was the SW girl that hit the HR off her? Was it the same gal that went yard 3 times at West Liberty High School last week end?

No, as I really try to not toot that young lady's horn! Piqua/Buckeye Heat 94 pitcher Haley Dotson is the girl that hit the HR off of Seiler.

I thought Moore did a pretty good job for the SW as well. She was not hit very hard either.

Absolutely. I thought I mentioned how well she pitched in an earlier post, but not by name. I thought she was gritty tough. I would take her any day on my team.

mchammers, I respect your opionion about the Wear girl, she is very good. But in MY opionion the Seiler girl was the best pitcher there!

Sorry Mantle, I have never been wrong and don't plan on starting now! The difference is Montana Wear is not my daughter.....

I'm just messing with you. I saw Montana for all the games and you must have seen Erin all the games.

Let's call it a tie.

^^^MC, thats a very good comeback, but I am no relation to Erin Seiler either. I agree a truce is in order lol. I'm sure both will dominate their senior year in high school and be very successful in the college ranks!

Thanks for the comment MC HAMMERS. Moore is my daughter and yes she did give up a bomb unfortunately. I do agree though that Wear and Seiler were the best there. My daughter will agree also, she knows where she stands.

I do not remember the bomb off of her, but do know that the SW pitchers and team only gave up a couple runs in all 5 games. That is dominating pitching, and excellent defense.

I know the Central District team didn't have the most success this year, however we were a different team when Dorsey was on the mound. If we are talking about difference makers in the circle she has to be mentioned JMO.

It would be nice if the Central District coaches picked the best players. Instead they choose to go 0-4-1 in the tourney.

I know that the 6 girls that went down from our area were pretty much unknowns to the coaches in Cincy that were picking the teams. 3 of the girls made it out of the 6 I know that went down to the tryout. While I will say that the tryout itself was a little iffy, the process to choose them was not. There was no "Good old boys club" involved as far as the girls are concerned from our area that made it. They made the team on their own merit.

Also, regarding other posts above, if your HS coach doesn't let you know about these tryouts, then blame your HS coach and not the system. We knew last year but my girls had summer school and could not attend the tryouts. This year they were able to go along with the other girls mentioned. The biggest problem I see with all star teams is someone always gets their feelings hurt.

Could be high attendance/funds but have a D1,D2 D3 tryout seperately. Not coaches nominated players.Have something like D1 coaches coach D3,D2 does D1 and D3 does D2.No bias and maybe coaches can see where other coaches really evaluate your players?

What is the All-Ohio Underclassmen Tourney? I've never heard of it. We are in the Berea City School System (a southwest suburb of Cleveland) My DD has played softball for years and just finished up her freshman year in HS

HS coaches nominate players from their team that are freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, to go tryout for a team in their district. There were 6 districts: Southeast, Southwest, Central, Eastern, Northwest, and Northeast.

Two or three coaches in each district volunteer their time to coach the team, but the selection process involves several coaches in each district.

Ask your daughter's HS coach to give you information on the tryouts....if he/she thinks your daughter is good enough she should be included in the tryouts. 20 players from each region are selected to play.

Check with your HS coach or AD to see when the times are for tryouts in each area.

I saw three very dominating pitchers. Most impressive pitcher I saw was Montana Wear from Felicty Franklin HS in the SW district. She is just dominating. Susan Knight and Erin Seiler for the NW district were the next most impressive pitchers IMO.

Here's a look at how these three pitchers fared after their first college season:

Montana Wear (Wright State, excluding league tournament):
5W - 18L, 156.1 IP, 3.72 ERA, 94 SO

Erin Seiler (Akron, all games):
17W - 19L, 250.0 IP, 2.63 ERA, 219 SO

Susan Knight (Cleveland State, all games)
16W - 11L, 194.0 IP, 2.67 ERA, 131 SO.

Congrats to all three with their first successful year in D1 softball!
