Sapphires softball is all about theimportance of: Attitude, Team,Competition and Knowledge of the game of softball. If your daughter is offered a spot on our teamyou should know that the coaches are committed to participating in competitive tournaments, teaching and providing the young ladies on our club with opportunities tochallenge themselves as individuals and as a team. All of which is to ensure we create a fun andteam first environment for the girls.

At most any age, the fundamentals of the game remain the same and,as coaches, we will work hard to ensure the girls learn and grow from every practice andgame time experience. The coaches alsoknow many girls at this age are playing multiple sports as they try to find theone or two they will focus on as they get older. We welcome the opportunity to ensure thatSoftball is a wonderful experience for the girls on this team and somethingthey will always look forward to participating in.

The staff will put a scheduletogether that balances our desire to compete, and play deep enough on Sundaysto give the girls a great opportunity for more dirt time. We will only play in well established tournamentsknown to the staff or those that are held by clubs that we have familiaritywith. We do this to ensure the girls andparents have great experiences with tournaments that are quality events.

We will play predominantly local ASA/NSA Tournamentsand most likely one overnight tournament, perhaps two depending on teamperformance. We will play at least onefall or winter Tourney as well in 2013.

While we have a good core, we have know needs at catcher and 1B yet postions are open and we are looking at playersfor all positions and multi sport athletes are very much welcome. Coaches will make arrangements as necessaryfor private tryouts up until we finalize the roster by mid September. The team has 4-5 openings amd would also welcome an additional pitcher to complete the rotation.

We are interested in developing thegirls first. We also know that all participants have a desire to win. We will balance this by moving girls around abit more in pool play yet on Sunday?s positions and playing time will be basedon performance. This includesexpectations that all Sapphires girls compete with respect for the game, neverquit, and are committed through what they do and say to be the best athletesand teammates they can be! As coaches itis all we can ask.

2014 Tournaments: The tournament schedule will be made up of 7-9 Tournaments. 2014.The team may also play a fall or winter tournament.

Sample Tournaments:
Valley Extreme ASA (Cortland, OH), McMadness ASA (NorthRidgeville), Maple Leaf NSA (Burton, OH), Akron Sizzler NSA (Akron,OH)

Practice: We will practice once a week for several weeks in the fall and winterand pick up an extra practice as we get closer to our season. Location for the vastmajority of outdoor practices is Cascade Valley Park in Akron, 1199 N. Cuyahoga St. Akron, OH 44313. We will also participate inoptional batting instruction along with our older teams with well known hitting instructor Bob Hoilesduring the winter.

Parent Involvement: Whatwe ask of our team parents is simply your support. Your girls will play against top competitionand we are all here to make the most of your daughter?s softball athleticexperience. Parents are asked to supportthe club and help their daughters by making sure they get to practice andtournaments on time. Parents areexpected to cheer the team on and make sure their kids stay focused on the game and coaches, doing their best and forget the rest!! :yahoo:
