Actually heard about the Hawk forfeits. What a shame!

It was.. and I messed it up. Hermans team had 3 girls sick and 2 with homecoming committments.

When I got to the park I grabbed all the rosters for the teams are took them over to the registration. I grabbed Scott's and the two girls he had to pick up to have enough to play the first game were not on the sheet. I did not notice and turned it in. The other 14u team had passed their form around to their parents and I stopped by and got it. The 1 pick-up they had to make was not yet on it as well. It was my fault for not taking time to dbl-check with the coaches and parents before turning it in.

When Rob called me about it I told him to absolutely set the games to a forfeit and apologized for the confusion. There was no issue on our end, we messed up and it costs the 14u teams their games as it should have. Scott's team went without their pitcher today due to volleyball and played short handed today. I am sorry for the mistake and the issues it made for Rob in an otherwise great tourney.....

Maybe you thought you were going to slide the illegal players through. Hawks 14U gold forfeits one victory due to illegal players. Hawks 14U Black forfeits two victories due to illegal players. Is this a trend?

Normally, I do not respond to fictitious individuals like this one but I can not help myself this time. dddyfstptch are you a groupy because you have spent all your post with this name targeting the Ohio Hawks? Man up and use your other screen name and get out of the probationary status and you will be taken more seriously.

The Hawks forfeited games by the 14u teams were very unfortunate but not malicious intent to cheat. My understanding is; the 14u teams simply forgot to add players to their tournament roster. All players we legal age wise and should have been on the roster, it was a mistake those teams accepted.The Hawks 14u did do pretty good (who won this age group?) in this tournament after the forfeits.

Many of the same individuals that make the biggest stink about issues are the ones that have the most skeletons in their closets. I wanted to respond to these comments because there was only an intent to compete fairly by all Ohio Hawks teams.

Thank you to the Valley Storm for running another great tournament. This was my third year there and is has always run great'. Only way to improve on this tournament is to put heaters in the dug outs.

What a great weekend of fastpitch it was. The talent level of these teams was outstanding. Thanks to all the teams who participated and we hope you will come back next year. ;&

The reason why I asked what time the championship game was because I have a girl that has to leave and come back, It has nothing to do with assuming we are in the championship game. Think outside the box would you?

Just read the cheating discussion. I was there today and we played our first game against the Hawk 95 black team. We never heard anyone today say they tried to play older players, just non-roster players. One could easily be a mistake, the other is cheating.

I agree, it was a great weekend for softball, and Valley Storm put on a pretty flawless show - AWESOME job getting the fields ready, and re-lining them between games. Nice clean park (the bathrooms were A+), good umpires, good competition... what was promised was delivered as far as I am concerned.

As for all the garbage from, well basically just a select person/people on here, I hoped to keep my fingers idle on this, but I will say one thing. There is a difference between cheating and making an administrative mistake. For those who are accusing, have you never made a mistake involving paperwork in relation to a softball team in your lifetime? It happens. I'm sure I made some this past summer with the team I was coaching. Cheating is lying about a player's age, dressing a boy up like a girl to play, or having a player play for two teams in the same tourney in the same age group, etc.

I think it's time to be realistic and own the fact that we all make mistakes. If this is the worst thing the Hawks org does in 2009-10, I'd say they've done OK. Running an org is never easy... and either is admitting to making mistakes one normally doesn't make. But the President owned up to the mistake, and was man enough to apologize to all parties involved. Show me you've never made an administrative error in years of coaching, and I'll show you a person who should be doing something much more productive than griping on OFC. Just one guy's 2cents.
