krrcoach ... the other factors are usually speed and a good ability to either bunt or slap ... either to move up runners, or to put pressure on the defense ...

But it doesn't hurt as bad as having a ground-ball hitter there who has greater potential to hit into a double play... See; we can overthink this from 8 different angles!

I love a lead off batter who sets the tone, we will hit the ball! Then a chase her with a girl who can hit and bunt with good success at reaching on either. 3 spot, power, I want an rbi here, even if 1 and 2 did not reach, 4,5,6 more power, and consider base running threat if equal. 7, 8 need to be best obp and able to move base runners to prep 9 and the top. 9 is another player who has speed and can hit or bunt with a chance to get on, or another power hitter.
