A softball parents vehicle.

Found this picture in my phone today. I remember taking it over the summer. It made me kinda smile. When I was younger (see no kids, wife and tons of time on my hands) my vehicles were immaculate. They were waxed weekly, interior looked like it came form the showroom floor, windows tinted and the music was loud. I sat in my truck for a second before this picture was take and thought of all the irony. Girls softball cleats, Gatorade bottles, water bottles, umbrellas for rain delays, Propel bottle (no idea where that came from) the black wire is the satellite radio for the travel tourney's and the white cord is the iPod cord for "her" music before and after the game.

I think it's cool how we change and adapt to our life. I wouldn't have it any other way.

OK, maybe a little cleaner. :D

Cool pic, but here is a coach's perspective. Im like you, my cars are my pride. I own a 30k sportscar that in no way I would ever take to the park. So as a coach, we used to cram in the hoopty (family sedan) and hit the tourneys. Never enough room for the family, coolers, all of the teams equipment, etc. Many of times the knuckleheads had company in the back seat. They would get mad cause we wouldnt take 2 cars. Like I said, no way in hell would I take the pimp-mobile. So it took me months to find the perfect ride. A 2001 GMC SLS Sonoma, 4 door with a truck cap for the equipment. Its four wheel drive for the winter too. Perfect Work/Ball Park Truck. 6 cylindar with all of the extras and gets around 20 mpg. Not bad for a truck. Got a great price from an one owner but my wife thinks I'm crazy just to purchase a vehicle for this game. The girls love it when I ask,"Do you like my truck?"

Our local rec team vehicle is a 1968 Jeep Wagoneer. Our sponsor was "Jeepskool" now called "SOR, Southington Offroad", so the Jeep fit our sponsor. Kid's piled in for rides to the DQ for icecream, got the whole team in it.

Now for travel we use a more modern diesel Suburban that seats "9" along with a ton of equipment. It is always a mess inside, but when your traveling you never know what you'll need. Lol.

We have converted to a class A RV. This gives us plenty of room and a place to relax in between games. Most think the expense is crazy but it is actually cheaper than hotel rooms and eating out all the time. Also we have it year round.

I always liked that idea and thought it made alot of sense, the missus would never let me pull the trigger on one.

Nice picture. I don't see the thick layer of dust that seems to be evenly distributed over the entire interior of my car. Can't seem to get rid of it....I can beat it into submission for a while, but (to paraphrase) Dust never sleeps.

I'm with Tim, I always liked the idea and think it makes sense. If I was doing it all over I would get one. At the ASA A States in Findlay I think they had a little RV village. Bet it was fun.

It is fun Musty. You meet more of the softball community as well. I do think this is the best thing that we have done. Makes it that much more enjoyable. Really nice on those 100 degree plus days.

When I coached this was me also! My 06 ram (which I am still rocking) had the back filled with team equipment and all seats accounted for!

One of our older teams had a parent with a bus sized RV that they traveled in. The team was always welcome in it and it was great place for the girls to relax. I would love one!

We just joined the travel softball world but have been a part of the travel sokker world for a while. My poor 2006 Chrysler Town and Country has 151,000 miles on it, been wrecked (just a little) twice (no time to get it fixed) and is like a mobile trash can most days. I will be driving it til it dies and pray that it is no time soon!!!

Our '08 T&C has 131k and counting...and it eats wheel bearings...3 sets. Rotors, going on 5th set. Chrysler has paid us quite a bit in refunds instead of a recall. I'll be after a 2013 truck come spring. Eyeballing the F150 4x4 platinum or new limited but the pucker factor is huuuuge still. The van is hard to beat but having a place to leave all the stuff will be nice.

We used to be with an organization that had an RV they took to games but none of the girls were allowed in it except the organization president's kids and her friends. They advertised it as for the players on the team, just didn't deliver on it.

My vehicle has now been the dark abyss for sweaty socks, headbands, water bottles, first aid kits, for the last two years of travel ball. It's funny how you know exactly what's lurking under the seat just by the smell of the inside of the vehicle. Too bad you can't always find the item causing the stink. However, I can surely mark the spots I have checked in the untameable layer of diamond dust. I have resorted to using the air compressor on more than one occasion....

Wahoo!!! I finally used armor all to remove the 6 inch layer of diamond dirt from the inside of my car!!! It is actually gray and black, not dirty brown like it appeared all summer. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I love the pic. I coach 12U and have a PT Cruiser I bought before getting married and having kids that has now become the Softball car. The back seat stays folded down and all the teams equipment is loaded in there. It has a thick layer of dust all over it and the CD player is loaded with classic rock. I can usually stuff one or two players in there but they usually have a bucket or something shoved in their lap.
