Thanks Katmandu! Hits, errors and mental mistakes, but Woodridge stays @ Firestone to play Poland in the regional semi-final on Thursday.

Poland is going to be very tough...not a close game in the tourney yet. Hope that's good for you! Lay off her rise...and hope you dont get an umpire that gives her 4 inches on both sides of the plate.

Better hope the ump don't give her 1 inch off the plate...........

Poland is tough, beat us last year 1-0 at District Final. Hitters must stay disciplined. Gabriel was scary good last year, I can only assume she's gotten better.

you sound a little sour towards some calls perhaps? Theyre gonna give her the extra inch (or 4 ) because she is a stud. Whether she gets the extra space or not, shes one of if not the top in the state...... shes earned that.

I'm not taking anything away from Gabriel. I think she is the best pitcher in the state, bar none. However, anyone who watched last year's championship game could see the ump was giving her a lot of leeway on both sides. The Elyria radio station announcers were all over that, and they sat right behind home plate. So yes, a little sour. She's hard enough to hit, much more so when you have to swing at everything because you don't know what a strike is (based on the umpire). Keystone beat her 4-3 earlier last year, but couldn't touch her in the championship game.

I don't care how good anyone is, if it's not over the strike zone, you shouldn't get a called strike period......that's why it's the strike zone.

Amen Hilliarddad3, you are spot on with the strike zone t should be what it is. Waste of time to even play the game if the umpire increases it with a stud pitcher in the circle.

Parents please make sure you are not watching where it hit's the glove because her curve ( As well as most good curves or screwballs ) will nip fron corner and appear to be off plate by the time it hit's the glove.

Woodridge has their own stud and if the umps give her the same as they give gabriel, it might be more interesting than people think.

The umpire in our game against Licking Valley was calling outside strikes anywhere from 4 to 6 inches off the plate. It was happening for both sides but that wide strike zone made it very difficult on the hitters from both teams.

If I am not mistaken, the D2 Championship was also about the 4 runs Poland scored against an outstanding Keystone Pitcher. Be assured, Poland will not take anyone for granted. Look at the schedule, no one in the state played a stronger one.

There is simply no denying how good Gabriel is and that the team is tough to beat but they scored an unearned run in the 6th I believe then Keystone was forced into risky defense. Watch the tape before you judge the comments. The strike zone was not the same especially since they are completely different styles. It is hard not to make statement without sounding sour but I really think she was getting a pretty big zone. Hopefully they get to do it again. Fun to watch them both!

I was at the game and have watched it several times on tape. What happened is that Keystone game planned to lay off the rise and was shut down by the curve, drop curve and screw. As for the first meeting, anyone that watched the game would agree that Keystone was lucky to win on unearned runs!

Hmmm, sounds like bucettime is sour the other direction!! Yes, I believe Gabriel can get rattled...saw it in the first Keystone game last year and the Elyria game this year. But she doesn't need any help from umps...speaking of unearned runs, there were a couple for Poland in the Championship game last year. Too, bad that if they both get to state, they will meet in the semi-finals. Nothing is taken for granted however. On any given day, anyone can be beat. I wasn't impressed with Keystone in the District tourney. They have to pick it up in the Regionals or it won't matter! Poland seems to be rolling right now.
