Ricky has announced that he will be eliminating people's "backup" accounts. Would anyone be interested in a generic username that can be used to post things anonymously, that can be used by everyone on the forum?

This is how it would work...

There would be a generic anonymous account created using an email created specifically for said account. If you had a question or an issue that you want posted, but want to keep your identity secret, you would email your desired post to that email, and the person administrating that email/username would post it under the generic username.

Yay or nay?

This would still give people the ability to ask sensitive questions where they may not want their identity known.

All seems kind of silly to me. We are talking about a GAME and we have to hide who we are. SAD!!!!!

I think you are missing the point. Sometimes there are questions a parent or player may want to ask, but don't necessarily want their coach to know it's them. For instance, if they want to ask if a particular coaching practice is "normal", or are concerned about a particular behavior and don't want to shame anyone.

These posts would be monitored. If it's "bashing" or deemed overly inflammatory, they would not be posted.

I think everyone should be responsible for what they say. No need to hide behind a username. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah im kinda in agreement with above posts. If you can't put your real identity on your words you probably shouldn't say it. If you are trying to back door your current team-for instance, you probably shouldn't be facilitated. Its amazing how brave people get when they are anonymous or hide under an avatar. We're not fighting crime here.

I think for some of the reasons poster suggests would be OK............But first, ALL NEED to be identified to post on here IMO!
If you can't tell who you are, then no need to read your comments!!!

If the anonymous thing happens, then just questions, no bashing. Don't know? I just hate seeing posts with anonymous bashing, you should have to sign your name, then let the bashing begin.

I would have to agree. If it's something you dont want your "name" on, then you probably shouldn't say it. It's easy to say whatever you want when your behind an anonymous name, w/o worrying about the backlash. Have a set, be responsible for what comes out of your mouth. If not, just read the posts with your hands in your pocket.

Bad Idea !

One account and everyone is accountable for there own actions. I think this is LONG overdue.

Only way I think there should be a 2nd account is if they are trying to promote a business or such and should have the business as the name. JMHO

Most schools K-12 are having lessons on smart and safe social media use to help students of all ages understand why it is important to have "accountability" when using social media.
Having an option that goes against this invites trouble and these types of messages generally spiral down not up…

Again, the posts would be reviewed before they would be posted to the forum. Bashing of anyone would not be allowed. Not everything sent to that account would be posted. There would be guidelines and rules and if the administrator of the account felt the requested post to be inflammatory or inappropriate in any manner, it would never make it to the forum. Nobody but the administrator would have the password to the account or access to the emails requesting a post.

I don't post much but I do check in to read the forums. Reading some of them by certain posters who are basically anonymous now I think a lot of what is posted can be offensive to some. What is offensive or inflammatory to one person isn't necessarily to another. Seems a little PC to me. I would weigh on the same side as others and say If you dont want to own it by putting your name on it then don't say it.

If you post it put your name to it. If you are that concerned over the question you ask, a public forum is not the place to be asking it.

A greater concern of mine is new accounts that get created just to bash, and throw there 2 cents worth in,then you don't hear from again, have seen this on occasion, justas bad as anonymous posting

I think that's what they will eliminate by only allowing one user name

Yes Bad Idea !
As a Coach going on 9 years I have Policy if you are not happy with my Practices or your Daughter Playing time talk to me. Using this site under a assumed name to ask if Coaching Policy or Practices are Normal, Would Create Drama on Teams that will destroy the Chemistry Coaches try Extremely Hard to build. If you can't talk to your Coach than something is wrong with that situation . JMHO

Agreed, bad idea. There is very little accountability in this country now, we do not need to add to it by hiding behind "Anonymous". As Concrete stated, if you have an issue with a coach, TALK TO THE COACH.

When the idea was first brought up at the end of last night's radio show, I thought it had merit, especially in situations say where the poster might be new to the game and wanted to ask a "dumb" question to just learn without being afraid to expose their "ignorance". And I thought it was way better than people just setting up multiple user names. In 11+ years on the Forum, I have only ever had one user name, and pretty much everyone knows who I am. But the responses here make a good point that it probably would be used more to hide while bashing coaches, organizations or parents, if even in an indirect way. The issue is that in this world of political correctness, some people are afraid to post anything critical or controversial, and it might have been a way to at least bring issues to the forefront. The Forum has spoken in terms of not liking the idea, but does anyone have any other ideas how to accomplish the same thing?
