Any interest in a 16U Gold team?

Not that I am thinking of assembling a team, but what is the interest in getting ASA Gold teams started here in the Buckeye state?

I know Ohio has the talent to get at least 2 teams together, but could it be a sustainable effort?

I know quite a few girls that would jump at the chance, but does the parental community have the stamina to attempt this?

Ump, idk if it needs to be a Gold team, but a team to challenge the best outside of Ohio. The talent is here, putting it together is another story. Sent you a p.m.

Ump,

I know this has been covered, but ...

1. How do you become a "gold" team?
2. How does this benefit you?

Why couldn't Slammers or Lasers Red "declare" themselves "gold" teams and just go globe trotting .... like they do anyways?

Just curious about the nuts & bolts, and meaning of it - thanks!

PD,

I know this has been beat to death, but why not a Ohio best of the best assembled to take on the 16U Gold community west of the mississippi. You'd have to assume that since most of the teams out west just declare "gold" for the exposure, the dillution of talent on so many teams has to be an issue. ASA seems to be clamping down on the over use of the Gold standard. All I'm saying is lets use it to our advantage

What if an all ohio bunch of studs, assembled from many sources, went west. I don't know of any of the teams currently playing the circuit have tried that approach.

Just a thought...

Ump,

I have always liked that concept, and we know that top Ohio teams can compete. Just wasn't sure what "gold" really means, if anything?

Can you also just simply assemble a team and take them out west after the season is over? I know there are some teams not doing "nationals" when they get older, as they just focus on showcases. Can you just gobble up 12 worthy players, making sure ASA releases are in place, and take your all star team out west ... Manifest Destiny Part 2 ... softball style?

Or are you thinking of a season long campaign?

There is no such thing as 16U Gold, only 18U Gold. A 16U team could play up as an 18U Gold team but there are no 16U Gold tourneys that I am aware of.

Lady Knights is correct. And even the best 16-U team trying to play the top Gold teams is going to struggle.
