As many of us prepare to make the trip on Sunday I wanted to take the time to wish all of our Ohio girls a safe trip and GOOD LUCK! ?Yes, ALL of them, Cincy Doom, GCKA Nightmare, Lasers Green, Lasers Orange and Valley Extreme.

They have all proven over the last season (and longer) that they truly are our "best of the best." ?We've all seen the threads and read the polls. ?These teams have been "bashed" by some and "touted" by others for reasons none of us wants to get into yet again. ?These girls have ALL proved that they have IT. ?They have won more than they have lost and have earned more hardware in one season than most teams can dream of.

The hard work, endless hours of practice, and most of all determination have paid off. ?This is the BIG DANCE as far as girls fastpitch softball is concerned and now is your time to shine, for some of these teams may never be the same again due to girls moving up or looking for other opportunities, etc. ?You will be facing the best of the rest and I have no doubt when the scores start popping up on here (OFC) next week I am going to see alot of W's. ?Let's show all those doubters that OH fastpitch is for real.

Lastly, to "my" girls: #1, #3, #4, #6, #7, #10, #11, #12, #13, #19 and last but not least #92 go "git 'r done." ?Remember to leave it all on the field because you can't bring it home. ?Love you all!

I want to wish Bill White and the 14U Valley Extreme team the best of luck in Illinois. As coach Tyler said two years ago---"we are playing to bring home some hardware" I know the competition will be fierce but you have an outstanding group of young ladies who can play softball against the best!
I also want to wish all the OHIO teams who are going to the ASA tournaments at all ages to perform at their very best but to also have fun and enjoy the moment because they will quickly become memories.
Go OHIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will love the fields at Bloomington/Normal. I just moved from there 2 years ago and coached 8 years of travel ball with the BNGSA association. Please check out their website as well at www.bngsa.org. You also will be seeing some excellent ball in the area.

Wish I could tell you that there is a lot to do besides playing ball, but there is not. You have a 40 minute drive to Champaign-Urbana, the home of the University of Illinois and 45 minutes to Peoria which has river boat gambling. You will be two hours south of Chi-town.

Basically, you are in the middle of corn fields. . .but you will be playing in one of the premier facilities in Illinois. If it rains, within 30 mins. the fields are dry with little use of dryout and play will resume. It is very flat and little shade besides the dugouts themselves. You will want to take pop-ups. There is a large amount of bleacher seating, but many also prefer to use chairs. I will advise you that they take excellent care of the dugout and provide ice water and cups within the dugouts for all teams.

Bloomington/Normal has two colleges, DI school Illinois State and DIII School Illinois Wesleyan. As you play on the back four diamonds, you will be able to look to your southwest and see Mitsubushi Motors where the Eclipse and Gallant are built. On the southeast side of Bloomington, you will see the home of State Farm Insurance. You have two malls to shop at 1) on the corner of Veterans Parkway (business loop 55) and Empire Street (Route 9), and one on the corner of Veterans Parkway and College Avenue.
For those needing to just grab quick items while at the tournament, there is a Super Walmart on Market Street (Route 9) on the west side of Normal.

I hope you enjoy my home town. I miss the people and Champion Fields!

I would like to take this time to wish all of the Ohio teams the best of luck! This is one of the deepest 14U fields from Ohio in recent years and I hope you show the rest of the softball nation what Ohio softball is all about! A special good luck to the Valley Extream Blue... I have a feeling that this group will shock a few Western teams on the way! ;)

They do not post the scores on the board, but I can tell you what I know:

Lady Lasers Orange 3
San Jose Lady Sharks 5

We were winning going into the top of the 7th but the Sharks fought back. I'm very proud of the way the girls played against one of the best 14 California teams. It was one of the best games we have played all season! We are getting ready to play against the Bombers 92 from TX tomorrow at noon.

Some other results:

Cincy Doom lost by 1 to AZ Suncats
Lady Lasers Green over QC Firebirds 93 (IL)
MVX Red over Alton Flames

Valley Extreme Blue was getting ready to play when we left. Game started at 6:45pm against the West Cobb Explosion (GA). Same for Nightmare against Acers 92 (WA).
