Banned bat question

Has anyone come out with a "banned" bat list for next year or the near future? Don't want to buy a bat that will be useless soon.

Thanks Len. I just didn't know if there was anything else out there because I keep hearing rumors about banning all composites. I am assuming that they are just rumors.

At my 12U daighters game two weeks ago, the ump actually had a color pamphlet that showed banned bats. Do not know where he got it, but he hand-checked each bat against the pictures.

If memory serves me correctly, we lost a bat last year during the Dayton Metro tourney. And we also lost one in the ASA/USA Nat'ls. In both cases, there was a bit of mental anguish resulting from these decisions.

What do the umps do if they find a banned bat? Is there a procedure?

Losing a bat that I paid $300 for is exactly what I am trying to avoid. I think I would cry more than my daughter.

I would sincerely hope that they would return the bat at the conclusion of the tournament.

Depends on the Ump, I could see OQM snapping it over his knee and handing you the pieces back. :lmao::lmao:

They do, but it is taken away and you must pick it up at the end of the tourney. That is what happened at Eastern Nationals last year. Many are not on the banned bat list , but have a defect in the terms of what the umpires are told to check.

I mean losing the ability to use it at any tounament. When I pay that much for a piece of equipment I expect her to be able to use it every time. Although the bat price is chicken feed compared to the travel costs but 300 bucks is 300 bucks.

If one sanctioning body bans a bat, do the others generally follow suit?

Yes. See the list Len posted. Keep in mind this is just the banned list. Need to read what other items are checked by the umpires. Example if the end cap looks like it has been altered your bat is banned for that tourney. We had a bat banned because the ASA stamp had worn and you could not read it, even though the same bat was being used by a different girl and you could read the ASA stamp. The older Rip It's are bad about the ASA stamp wearing off. We had a CF4 banned last year due to a deep scratch, looked like the fence got it.

Good points. My DD has an 04 RT with a very faded 2000 stamp. I would like to do something to protect the stamp from fading any more. Would that be considered an alternation?

My DD has a cf4 with a deep scratch (came that way when we special ordered it) ...Bat has been disqualified once already. Contacted Dimarini and they will not do anything since it is just a scratch, but if she can't use it???...Very frustrating!

I believe it would be considered an alteration.

Can it be sent back to the factory for re-certification and restamped ?

I noticed that ASA will accept bats with the "Recertified" stamp.

Len is correct. Each company is different you will have to contact them. Rip It wouldn't correct the stamp issue.

They think youll buy a new bat with your money instead of them putting their own money into an old bat putting a stamp on it.
