Base running question

A base runner at 2nd base leads off along with the pitch. The catcher receives the pitch and throws back to the pitcher. While the base runner is heading back to the base, the pitcher, while in the circle, lifts her arm and fakes a through to 2nd base. The runner sees the pitchers motion and stops right in her tract, and then proceeds back to 2nd base.
Is the base runner out for not returning directly to the base by pausing when she sees the pitcher faking a throw?

Thanks in advance.

As soon as the pitcher makes any "faint" or play towards 2nd base, the runner has been released, and is in no jeopardy of being called out, unless after the play the runner just stands there, for a time, then she could be back in jeopardy.

Runner is not out as long as the pitcher is attempting to make a play even if it is a fake. I think I may have been at that scrimmage where the play you are referring to happened. No, she was not out.
